  1. Just my opinion, but this set bored me, so if you already have a "fair bit of it," that's probably all you need.
  2. AMEN AND HALLELUJAH!!! That's wonderful news, Bruce!
  3. I had no choice when one of my hinges broke, but now I find it easier to handle the LP and the TT than before.
  4. It certainly would've awoken... awakened.... woken..... hell, I'da jumped outta my bed screaming, that's for sure!
  5. I had a similar dream, probably back in '93 or '94, in that I was at the University of Texas Swim Center with then-president Bill Clinton and then-VP Al Gore. Bill jumped in and got stuck at the bottom of the deep end. Gore tried to save him, to no avail. He was very sad about this, and I vividly remember putting my arm around him and saying "From one Al to another..." and comforting him.
  6. Too bad Alfred Hitchcock isn't around anymore; he could make a great movie out of this! Locusts + aliens + movie = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062168/ . Nice one, Chas! MG No kidding! Nice call!
  7. Essential, no. Special...definitely. You got THAT right! Especially the trio tracks that close the discs.
  8. Drat! Now that the Charges are out, the only team left for me to root for in order to spite Jerry Jones is.... ....gulp.... ...the Eagles. But at least it spites T.O. in the process.
  9. Too bad Alfred Hitchcock isn't around anymore; he could make a great movie out of this! I mean, you had ME hooked!
  10. So, how did you celebrate yesterday's win? (BTW, this Cowboys fan is loving this! Normally I hate the Eagles, but as long as T.O. is on the Cowboys, I want the Eagles to go all the way!)
  11. Last night, I dreamt I got a phone call from a friend saying Pudge Rodriguez killed himself because he made five errors in one game. The whole dream was a strange experience to begin with, but that part felt so real I checked espn.com just to be sure it was only a dream. Thank God it was; Pudge appears to be alive and well. Ever have something like that happen to you?
  12. It's definitely a good one!
  13. I was SO hoping you were referring to Jerry here. You know he'll bring Pacman back. He'll figure out some way. He's Jerry Jones, and he never gives up on anyone, seeing as he's never met a reclamation project he didn't like.
  14. This was the first one I thought of, and Larry expressed it more eloquently than I could!

    BFT #61

Seeing this reminded me of Jim's guess on my BFT (when the answer really WAS Bill Evans), which had me on the floor in hysterics: Still !!!
  16. Really enjoying this. Thanks for starting the thread, Jim! His version of "Once I Loved" is reason enough to keep this in the collection!
  17. Wow! Where did you pick this up for $19?
  18. Last post was December 17. I bought a couple of CDs from him on December 4 which haven't arrived. Sent him a PM a couple of days ago, from which I haven't received a response. Tommy, if you're out there, let me know!
  19. Count me in, of course!
  20. I'm in that distinct (and tiny) minority who actually enjoys Mardi Gras. It certainly isn't a GREAT album by any standards, but it is a GOOD one, with Doug and Stu showing some promise. I really like "Sail Away," "Need Someone to Love," and "Take it Like a Man." And a HUGE AMEN to Bruce's post above! Every single word of it!
  21. ELP Tarkus, continuing a friend's project of transferring her husband's LPs to CD. Jeezus this is terrible. No wonder these guys were so vilified! Just when I think side one is about to end, it starts back up again. I hope these guys were fun to see in concert cuz they're a dreadful bore on record!
  22. Beg pardon, but which song is that? "Zanzibar" from 52nd Street
  23. Someone who attended that session told a story that Freddie indulged heavily in both weed and alcohol at the studio, then asked to hear the tape, and blew that solo perfectly on a first try. I'd probably need heavy doses of weed and alcohol too if I was doing a Billy Joel session. Freddie's solo on that track is the highlight of Joel's career, IMOSHO.
  24. If you like Destination...Out! You'll LOVE One Step Beyond. Agreed, as great as 'Destination....Out' is, 'One Step Beyond' is clearly better to me. If I could only have one Jackie McLean CD (what I sad thought!), this would be the one, as great as his other stuff is. This album is a landmark in jazz history. It, 'Destination Out!", Grachan Moncur's 'Evolution' (all from 1963), and 'Action' (from 1964) are the recordings that McLean did with Bobby Hutcherson, and all are spectacular. 'Action' has Charles Tolliver on the front line with McLean, and the others have Moncur, with Lee Morgan added on 'Evolution'. Amazing stuff. Amen and preach brother! :tup
  25. Well, now I have something to use my Borders giftcard for! In the past, I would see it, think about it, but ultimately put it back. Even listened to it a few times on Rhapsody and thought it a nice album. Sangrey's never been wrong for me in the past, so Borders here I come!
