  1. I can just picture the scene in the Rangers front-office: Tom Hicks is salivating, Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels are playing keep away with Hicks' cel phone... Also, as much as I hate seeing the Red Sox and/or Yankees on national TV, fact is Dan's right: they're a draw, they bring in the advertising dollars. End of story. When the Sox or the Yankees are here, Rangers attendance is through the roof. In fact, package deals or free tickets always come with the stipulation that they CANNOT be used for games when the Yankees or Red Sox are in town. That ain't no coincidence.
  2. "Funky Mama" from Lou Donaldson's The Natural Soul. Not the biggest LD fan, and I bought this because of Green-Patton-Dixon. LD & Tommy T shine and the Mighty Greaze Trio live up to their name as the groove on this is SO infectious!
  3. Alright! Glad it arrived safely! I have my own copy of Action TOCJ, and absolutely love the mastering! Same thing for RFF.
  4. FS/FT - Freddie Roach MO GREENS PLEASE (TOCJ w/OBI in plastic wrap, 1993 BN Works 4000) $20 plus $2 shipping for the first disc, and $1 for each disc thereafter with a maximum shipping charge of $10. Cash only, and you must deliver it to me personally with proper ID.
  5. I'll take Freddie Roach MO GREENS PLEASE, TOCJ only, must have jewel case and OBI. $10 shipped to me in protective bubble envelope, with an extra layer of bubble-wrap on the inside.
  6. Can't go wrong with Peter Washington & Al Foster. May have to seek this one out!
  7. Does ARTIST TITLE PRICE come with a jewel case, and is it the TOCJ or the JRVG? Seriously, though, that's a good price for the Rollins box and some great music there. Hope somebody grabs it soon!
  8. Well, so much for that: www.scatjazzlounge.com
  9. Man, if I could get Hubbard to sign my dad's Blakey MOSAIC album this weekend and Fuller to sign it when he's here, all I'd be missing from the front line would be Wayne Shorter! Man, I am SO looking forward to these shows! Al
  10. FINAL PRICE REDUCTION!!! ALL JRVGs $12!!! EVERYTHING MUST GO!!! No jewel cases, obviously!
  11. Listened to Gravy Train and that's pretty much confirmed that I can live without the Donaldson. Gravy Train is ultra lame. Well, I listened to the tracks at the Mosaic site, and I'm inclined to agree with you. I would like to get my hands on the sessions with Horace Parlan (already have "Sunny Side Up"), but not willing to pay THAT much to get three albums. Also listened to the Hackett. I think my wallet is safe from that one as well.
  12. Is it the TOCJ or the JRVG?
  13. Up with addition of two Dizzy Reece TOCJ's
  14. Crud. I hadn't planned on ordering that Hackett box, but then I followed that link..... Still haven't pulled the trigger, but reading that page is making it more difficult not to!
  15. All JRVGs marked down to $15! Gotta pay for that Mosaic sale somehow!
  16. 15% off the Turrentine, Donaldson, and Rich..... I don't know if I can restrain myself this time! Seriously!
  17. Actually, the God's honest truth is that I also got that call but didn't get down there until three days afterwards. I figured there would only be a few titles left. I asked Kevin (the guy who works there) about that and he said just about everyone he'd called had already picked over what they wanted, so I'm guessing there was a lot more than what I walked out of there with (which, as you can tell, was everything else). I just figured I would buy them all and sell them here. Give everyone on the board a chance to give these discs a good home.
  18. Holy freakin' shit!!! It's not enough that Hamilton belts 28 homers in the first round, but how the hell did his 71-yr-old pitcher keep up the strength to keep throwin' 'em in there??? Un-freakin-real!!!
  19. This session has a very dark feel to it. Another in a fine line of "Prestige All-Star" jams, and yet it has a personality all its own. This is no doubt due to the presence of Pepper Adams and Cecil Payne, and Trane just blends right in with them. A lotta low end, but it contributes to the mood.
  20. In my case, I just stumbled onto a treasure trove at a local shop, bought 'em all thinking that a lot of people had holes to fill. I kept out the titles I wanted! In fact, I even sent Dan a PM telling him to go ahead and offer his JRVG's & TOCJ's. It means more to me to help him out than sell what I have.
  21. No Jim, they said birth "date," not birth "weight."
  22. The #1 song on the day my son was born was "One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men. Yes it was!
  23. Dude, I can't believe I'm younger than you. I thought you were way younger than me!
  24. Not really, unfortunately. Maybe it's that way on the original tape.
  25. SOLD! Literally! Payment already received! Got it! Wow! That was fast!
