  1. Does anyone know of an Argo label discography?
  2. This Hi-Lo 78 has been reissued on Lp and CD titled "Thelonious Monk Herbie Nichols" on Savoy SJL-1166.
  3. I got the answer- Hi-Lo 1402 was a 78. Has been reissued on LP and CD titled "Thelonious Monk Herbie Nichols" on Savoy label SJL-1166.
  4. Many thanks for the answers. Dan.
  5. Anybody have this LP? It has Herbie Nichols on piano. Dan.
  6. I am looking for the Chocolate Williams LP Hi-Lo 1402. Can anyone help? Dan.
  7. I collect Transition label CDs and LPs, including the booklets which several LPs had instead of liner notes. If there are other Transition collectors out there please contact me by PM.
  8. The following item is listed on eBay (item number 130490793211) titled "World's only recording of historic jazz concert". The item consists of 8 7-inch tapes. The jazz concert was held on Sunday, June 23, 1963, where 40 of the country's top jazz musicians gathered in the back yard of baseball legend Jackie Robinson's home on Cascade Road in North Stamford, CT, for what became the first annual Jackie Robinson Jazz Concert. Artists include Zoot Sims, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, Billy Taylor, Randy Weston and many more. These tapes could become a Mosaic or Mosaic Select set.
  9. How about the Savory collection?
  10. I wish Columbia/Sony would re-issue the following LPs on CD: 1. At Storyville (has been re-issued by Fresh Sound Records) 2. Blues Roots with Gerry Mulligan 3. In Amsterdam 4. Jackpot 5. Last Time We Saw Paris 6. The Riddle (has been re-issued by Solar Records combined with Southern Scene) 7. Tonight Only! with Carmen McRae (has been re-issued by 101 Distribution) 8. Compadres with Gerry Mulligan
  11. I have the 1993 CD. All 14 tracks are in stereo.
  12. Recently US Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) TV has shown 2 Sonny Rollins interviews, one by Tavis Smiley (24 minutes) and one by Jeffrey Brown (7 minutes). PM me for an audio version.
  13. The technology geniuses need to figure out a way to stream liner notes and cover art. Part of the enjoyment of owning an LP or a CD is reading the notes which contain interesting information about the songs and the artists. I do not listen to jazz as background music to something else I am doing- I listen to the music for the music and often refer to the notes.
  14. Why don't you listen to your SACD discs any more?
  15. I have the Andex Mucho Calor LP released on a VSOP CD.
  16. I use a program called "Total Recorder" available for cheap on the Internet. It allows you to record anything that plays thru your computer sound card. I play a DVD on my HP PC drive and record perfect sound that can then be burned on a CDR with Windows Media Player. I can also record anything that plays from the internet which is a great feature. The program is simple to use.
  17. Fresh Sound Records (Jazz Track label) CD titled "Telefunken Blues" has the complete Clarke-Wilkins Savoy session. Following is quote from their website: "This release contains legendary drummer Kenny Clarke’s complete album “Telefunken Blues” as well as his subsequent LP “The Kenny Clarke & Ernie Wilkins Septet” which is coupled here as a bonus. Includes comprehensive 12-page booklet."
  18. Send me your email address. I will send you a scan of the Muse Tune Up! cover. Dan
  19. Previous posts have addressed the CD player replacement problem. There seems to be a lack of decent new CD players. A solution is to buy a good DVD player- they all play CDs, as well.
  20. Many thanks for the correction. It is tough to keep up with all the re-issues.
  21. Boundee Records (Japan) has released a CD (FNCJ-5607) thru Eastwind (US) titled "The Complete 1955 Concerts In Holland". Tracks 1 thru 6 are released for the first time. They were recorded on 9/17/55 in Amsterdam. Tracks 7 thru 12 (The Hague Kurhaus 9/18/55) have been previously released on the RLR Records CD 88621. This is a great find for Twardzik completists!
  22. Regarding Jackpot- who cares if the piano was out of tune? It sounds OK to me. The music, especially "You Go To My Head" is terrific! Dave has a wonderful solo. There are not many live DBQ recordings and this one deserves to be issued on CD.
  23. There are several Brubeck Columbia LPs that should be reissued on CD by Sony, including Paris. They are: 1. Jackpot 2. The Last Time We Saw Paris 3. In Amsterdam 4. Blues Roots 5. Compadres 6. Tonight Only! These would make a nice box set.
  24. Anyone interested in getting a CD of this session contact me offline at hershia@cfl.rr.com.
  25. I found the Kitty White LP from another source. Thanks for replying.
