  1. Many thanks for the correction. It is tough to keep up with all the re-issues.
  2. Boundee Records (Japan) has released a CD (FNCJ-5607) thru Eastwind (US) titled "The Complete 1955 Concerts In Holland". Tracks 1 thru 6 are released for the first time. They were recorded on 9/17/55 in Amsterdam. Tracks 7 thru 12 (The Hague Kurhaus 9/18/55) have been previously released on the RLR Records CD 88621. This is a great find for Twardzik completists!
  3. Regarding Jackpot- who cares if the piano was out of tune? It sounds OK to me. The music, especially "You Go To My Head" is terrific! Dave has a wonderful solo. There are not many live DBQ recordings and this one deserves to be issued on CD.
  4. There are several Brubeck Columbia LPs that should be reissued on CD by Sony, including Paris. They are: 1. Jackpot 2. The Last Time We Saw Paris 3. In Amsterdam 4. Blues Roots 5. Compadres 6. Tonight Only! These would make a nice box set.
  5. Anyone interested in getting a CD of this session contact me offline at hershia@cfl.rr.com.
  6. I found the Kitty White LP from another source. Thanks for replying.

  7. Why is the release date important? To me it seems that the recording date is what matters. Excuse me for my ignorance.
  8. Absolutely terrific CD. By all means pick it up.
  9. For West Coast jazz fans I highly recommend Ted Gioia's "West Coast Jazz- Modern Jazz In California 1945-1960". This book traces modern jazz history in California interspersed with biographies of the participating musicians.
  10. I recommend you consider "Jackpot- Live In Las Vegas" This has not been re-issued on CD (and probably will never be). The LP (Columbia CL-2712 Mono or CS-9512 Stereo) is available frequently on eBay. Before Brubeck went with Columbia he recorded a lot of albums on the Fantasy label. Many people feel these were his best recordings. All the Fantasy LPs have been released on CD. I recommend "Jazz At Wilshire-Ebell" as a good example of his Fantasy years.
  11. It looks like all the cuts except "Amen" on the Jorgie's LP are on the Byrd/Adams Royal Flush CD. Is this correct?
  12. Ken Dryden- You could be right. I have heard a rumor that the session did occur. I guess only Marian or Toshiko knows.
  13. [Are you thinking of this one released on Concord? I am looking for the Marian McPartland Piano Jazz session with Toshiko Akiyoshi on the Jazz Alliance label. The program was originally broadcast on National Public Radio and subsequently released on CD. I already own the CD on the Concord label where Toshiko plays at the Maybeck Recital Hall. Thank you for the reply.
  14. I am looking for a CD of the Marian McPartland Piano Jazz show with Toshiko Akiyoshi.
  15. Yes. Contact me for more info.
  16. You guys are correct. It was made from an LP. Sound is still great.
  17. Pepper Adams Ephemera was on Spotlight label.
  18. I have Ephemera on CD. Stereo sound quality is excellent. Recorded in London, 1973. Pepper Adams, Roland Hanna (p), George Mraz (b), Mel Lewis (d). Email me at hershia@cfl.rr.com for more details.
  19. I would like to see Sony/Columbia release the following LPs as CDs. Some of the LPs have been released as CDs by European labels but a high-quality Sony release would be much appreciated by Brubeck fans. 1. At Storyville (has been re-issued by Fresh Sound Records) 2. Blues Roots with Gerry Mulligan 3. In Amsterdam 4. Jackpot 5. Jazz Impressions Of The U.S.A. (has been re-issued by Gambit Records) 6. Last Time We Saw Paris 7. The Riddle (has been re-issued by Solar Records combined with Southern Scene) 8. Tonight Only! with Carmen McRae (has been re-issued by 101 Distribution)
  20. Update to my post of 21 October 2009: The John Windhurst "Jazz At Columbus Ave" Transition LP was reissued on a mini-LP CD by the Japanese (THCD-127). If you are interested in collecting Transition Label CDs or LPs please contact me.
  21. Many thanks for the info. What is the story behind the Chazzer LPs? They seem to be a miscellaneous collection of live sessions. The album notes are worthless. Are the LPs rare? Stonewall15.
  22. Need help identifying the 15 tracks. Who? What? When? Where? Please PM me.
  23. Do they sell on the internet? If they do this would be a great source for U.S. and other countries to get hard-to-find Japanese CDs.
  24. Amazon has this available as an MP3 download for $3.56.
  25. Looking for LP or CD. Please PM me or email at hershia@cfl.rr.com
