I have a Japanese-issued Bethlehem (BCP-6024) CD of "Winner's Circle" (COCY-78660). The notes list 8 tracks but my CD has 9. Can anyone tell me what the 9th track is, who plays on it, and where it comes from?

I am a Transition collector. I have acquired CDs of all the Transition jazz LPs released except for TRLP-8 (Pepper Adams/Curtis Fuller) and TRLP-18 (Jay Migliori). Both of these are shown as "unissued" on the Transition Records Discography (http://www.jazzdisco...ls/transitn.htm) referenced above. I have tried unsuccessfully to find out what happened to the sessions. Some of the songs were issued on the Transition Sampler TRLP-30 and on the Paul Chambers Mosaic Select #5 release. Bird's Eye View (TOCJ-5886), Byrd Blows On Beacon Hill (TOCJ-6832), and Watkins At Large (TOCJ-5885) have been released by the Japanese on separate CDs in addition to The Transition Sessions 2-CD set. I also suspect that the Walt Gifford/Johnny Windhurst LP titled "New Yorkers" is a Transition session not listed on the Transition discography. This LP was issued by Delmark Records who also released Byrd Jazz (First Flight- TRLP-5), and 2 Sun Ra sessions (TRLP-10 and -28)on LP and CD. Delmark seems to be the final repository of Transition tapes that did not end up with Blue Note. Any help for my Transition quest would be appreciated.

I had no idea that by posting my desire for an obscure 1951 John Coltrane/Dizzy Gillespie session LP would give rise to such a discussion. I have learned a lot about the "bootleg" issue thanks to the various responders. It seems to me that music performed over 60 years ago should be in the public domain. I repeat my request: does anyone out there have an Oberon or Broadcast Tributes LP of "Trane's First Ride" vol. 2 that they would be willing to sell me?

It is not a bootleg- it was issued on an Oberon label LP. I have volume 1, issued on the Oberon label. As I look further into "Trane's First Ride" vol 2 it looks like it was issued only on the Broadcast Tributes label # BT-009 LP. So I am looking to purchase the Broadcast Tributes label LP.

I am looking to buy this LP. I do not see how this violates rule #7.

John Coltrane on Oberon label LP # 5100. Could also be on Broadcast Tributes LP label # 0009. Title may be "Dizzy Gillespie Sextet". Consists of live broadcasts in NYC on Jan 13, 20 and Feb 3, 1951.

MJZEE- Bethlehem Stan Levey "This Time The Drum's On Me" was released by Avenue Jazz #R2-76683 in 2001. Commonly available on Amazon and eBay.

What 3 tracks by the Elmo Hope Quintet were on Pacific Jazz label? What is the Pacific Jazz catalog number?

This 10-inch LP is hard to find and, when you do, very expensive.

I am looking for the Japanese Bandstand label CD TKCB-70590, titled "Dave Brubeck- Take The A Train". Amazon lists "The Greatest Hits Dave Brubeck. The Cool Jazz Master" with 8 songs available on MP3, by the Producciones AR label. The 8 songs are the same ones as on the TKCB-70590 Bandstand CD. Is this MP3 set of songs the same as on the Bandstand CD? What are the details of the session? When? (possibly 1964 or 65), where, anything else? As far as I can tell this session does not show up on any Brubeck discographies. Why not? Songs are: 1. Take The "A" Train 2. Mexican Folk Song 3. Three To Get Ready 4. Forty Days 5. Summer Song 6. Someday My Prince Will Come 7. One Moment 8. Joe's Blues Players are Dave, Paul Desmond, Gene Wright and Joe Morello. Is it possible that the 8 songs are already included in another CD or LP? If so, on which one?

I just checked the "Cool Dogs & Two Oranges" MP3 listing on Amazon. 4 songs from the MGM E-137 LP are not listed: Lover Man, Diagram, Brotherly, and If I Had You. Does this mean that these 4 songs are not available anywhere except on the MGM LP?

Where does the 1955 MGM LP E3137 "Cool Europe" with Jutta Hipp and Mike Nevard fit into the previous discussions? Her songs are: Simone, Lover Man, Cool Dogs, Diagram, Anything Goes, Brotherly, Yogi, and If I had You.

I have the CD version of Overseas, not the SACD referred to by Groover. The sound is terrific and it has 3 alternate takes that are not on the SACD.

EyeSpeech- Would it be any better if I used the coaxial output instead of the optical outout?

I play SACDs with a Sony BDP-BX37 Blu-Ray DVD/SACD player via the digital optical output to an Adcom GDA-600 DAC and then into an Adcom GFP-555II Preamp. Based on the previous discussions is the SACD being properly decoded by my Preamp? The Adcom components are fairly old and I wonder if the technology is current enough. The SACDs play beautifully and sound better that the CDs of the same music.
