  1. I use a program called "Total Recorder". It can record any audio from the internet. I then transfer the recorded audio to CD-R using Windows Media Player.
  2. Bob Zieff? Like "life" or "leaf"? I can handle Bob.
  3. I give up!
  4. In Europe, 50 years, until 'Love Me Do" and "PS I Love You" turn 50, at which time copyrights will not doubt be extended. In the US, Mickey Mouse sets the limits. Copyrights will continue to be extended to cover Mickey Mouse, although there were a couple of Americans prior to Mickey Mouse who also made significant contributions. That's copyright law in a nutshell. Stupid, I know, but that's how it works. Are all LPs automatically copyrighted? The subject 4 LPs were issued by an individual (Ray Lawrence), not a company, with a small distribution. How do I find out if a copyright exists?
  5. I think this may be against boards policies. If this is against board policies I withdraw my offer. Where can I find a list of board policies? there is no list... only last week a moderator got into bad trouble for starting a thread we must not speak about anymore.... the policy in this case is either "no trading/making available... of stuff which is under copyright in the US" or "no trading/making available... of stuff which is under copyright anywhere in the world" (both sound pretty reasonable to me) which doesn't mean your offer wasn't kind! These 4 LPs are over 50 years old and have not been reissued since then. How long do copyrights last- forever? or what?

  7. Ray Lawrence released 4 LPs in the Jam Session series (numbers 100 thru 103). The sessions were recorded in 1952 and 53 at The Haig, Tradewinds Club and Rendezvous Ballroom. The artists include just about all of the West Coast Jazz players on the early 1950s, including Mulligan, Baker and Rogers. I have CDRs made from each of these 4 LPs. I also have scans of the LP covers I can email if you are interested. Anyone want to trade?
  8. Great source is soundsourcecds.com or 877-465-1285.
  9. Prestige released one of Red Rodney's first sessions on a 10-in LP (PRLP-122) in 1952. The music is absolutely terrific! The other players were Jim Ford (alto), Phil Raphael (piano), Phil Leshin (bass), and Phil Brown (drums). Fortunately, Prestige reissued this session on a CD titled "Prestige First Sessions vol 3" (PCD-24116-2). Rodney's session is on tracks 9 thru 15.
  10. I am looking for an LP titled "Jazz at ANA". This is a live 1958 concert by Howard Rumsey and his Jazz All-Stars at the Army and Navy Academy in Los Angeles. Scott LaFaro (bass) was also part of this session. Please contact me at hershia@cfl.rr.com
  11. Looking for 1958 LP Jazz At A.N.A. (Army and Navy Academy) by Howard Rumsey and the Lighthouse All-stars. Scott LaFaro is in this session.
  12. Jazz radio station- WUCF-FM (89.9) Orlando is available on-line. 24 hour a day jazz. From 6am to 6pm is with a live DJ. DJs take requests. Great, great jazz from 1930s until today.
  13. Just found Herb Pomeroy Jazz In A Stable LP (Transition TRLP-1) reissued on CD by Fresh Sound. It is available at Amazon.com. This is an extremely rare LP, selling for hundreds on eBay.
  14. Check-out the TEAC LP-R400 Turntable. This a stand-alone LP to CD converter unit. It has a manual track advance feature which is necessary when recording LPs to CD. The unit will also record from radio. The cost is around $300 but is well worth it if you have a lot of LPs that you want to transfer to CD.
  15. I also, love the "Lucky Strikes" album. Like Zoot and Gerry Mulligan, he sounds like himself, but higher, on the soprano, with no trace of Trane influence.
  16. If you LP fans care about CDs- the mentioned Tampa TP-16 side B has been reissued on VSOP CD #14/15 (Moods In Jazz and Reflections In Jazz) and side A on VSOP CD #34/22 (The Oscar Moore Quartet). The 2 CDs also have other pieces, if fact #34/22 has 16 pieces with the Great Carl Perkins!
