  1. Is this radio show available on you-tube or anywhere else? I would like to hear it.
  2. The CD issues.
  3. Friday and Saturday Nights at The Blackhawk 1961.
  4. How much did it cost? Where did you get it from?
  5. The Dick Hyman at Maybeck is absolutely magnificent!
  6. To avoid all the LP issues why not just purchase CDs? Most of the 1950's LPs have been re-issued on CD. Also the CDs are much cheaper.
  7. Lord discography under title "Swing Guitars" lists the 4 songs by the three artists. They did not play together, just grouped for this LP (MGV-8124 or MGN-1033). The Tal Farlow Mosaic does have the 4 songs on disc III, as well as on the Verve CD "Tal Farlow Album".
  8. The Lord Discography does not show any listing for Farlow, Kessel and Moore together. The Farlow Mosaic does not have any session from the 3 musicians, as well.
  9. Jackpot has been released on CD by the Japanese (SICJ-16). "Paris" and "Compadres" are the 2 Columbia LPs that have not been released on CD. Jackpot has been released on CD by the Japanese (SICJ-16). "Paris" and "Compadres" are the 2 Columbia LPs that have not been released on CD.
  10. How do you search for a label? or for a song?
  11. In the Organissimo Mosaic category the Denny Zeitlin "Live At The Trident" session was referred to. Supposedly there are additional songs that were never released. Is it possible that they were released subsequently? I have a lovely Japanese CD (SICP-972) that has the original 9 tracks and would like to supplement those with additional tracks.
  12. Mosaic 105 "Art Pepper" was released on LP only. Via a CD recorder I now have CDs of that great 3-LP set.
  13. Another revolutionary feature of CDs is the creation of the CD recorder! These recorders provided for the transfer of LPs to CDs (CDrs) via a turntable. A CD recorder allows for the recording from any source in addition to LPs. Basically anything that plays through your computer's speakers can be recorded on CDR.
  14. Was this while he was in residence at the Utica College in Syracuse?
  15. What are the dates of the Croscrane sessions?
  16. A beautiful digital version is included as CD #2 in the 30-CD set of "The Charlie Parker Records" label. This box set was issued by Membran many years ago.
  17. Ken- thank you for posting the Toshiko session. I especially liked track 5 and 6 where she was quite up-beat. The bassist was very good throughout. I have no idea what the title is for track 3.

The session made a great CDR!

  18. Desmond really plays on an early Columbia LP (CL-622) "Brubeck Time". Fortunately this LP has been released on CD.
  19. Lucky Thompson "Lucky Strikes" on Transition and Prestige labels. Same title, totally different tunes.
  20. I am listening to the Los Angeles Jazz Institute CD (LAJI-0010) titled "Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All Stars On The Air 1957". The CD contains two sessions broadcast on November 20 and December 18, 1957 on the KMLA radio station "Nightlife" program. These sessions are very, very good and is it possible that other KMLA radio broadcasts are available? An interesting fact is that KMLA was an early FM radio station. The recording is not in stereo.
  21. As a Transition LP collector I am interested in information about distribution of this Boston area label.
  22. Unreleased Transition label music sometimes surfaces. I am looking for Transition TRLP-18 (Jay Migliori- title "Jazz Down Beat") which was close enough to release that it was included in the Lord Discography and one song (Something's Gotta Give") is on TRLP-30 Transition Sampler. That booklet has a complete listing for TRLP-18. Hopefully the tape or acetate is floating around some where and will eventually surface. Fresh Sound Records has released several rare Transition LPs as CDs and would probably be interested in TRLP-18.
