  1. Ask Joe Conzo - he seems to be the mind behind those two sets as well as the Quatro set.
  2. Slowly making my way through the discographical mess. But it will take time ..... The two RCA boxes are by no means complete, omitting alternates, and some rarities like the "outtake" TTK mentioned, the four tracks with Charlene Bartley, and the Abbe Lane LP Puente accompanied. Correlating the track lists with the personnel data from Box 2 equals a mathematical riddle with several unknowns and equations. Even the two Bear Family CDs have some minor typos, although they are the best, as far as discographical documentation is concerned.
  3. I bought a lot of Black Jazz LPs back then, still have most of them, including all four of the Carn family. Excellent music.
  4. My own CDR made from LP copies of these two albums. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next:
  5. Four radio broadcasts aired 1955-1958, not on any Capitol or MGM albums (although studio versions of the same tunes are found there. https://www.discogs.com/George-Shearing-Quintet-Just-For-You-Live-In-The-1950s/release/11874117 The personnel listings on this CD are not always correct. No latin percussion by Toots Thielemans or Johnny Rae - Rae plays timbales on the two tracks where Armando Peraza joins them. Drummers are not always listed correctly, considering Shearing's tour personnel.
  6. My copy (made by ZYX in Germany) has 13 tracks, Now's the Time included. Nonsense. Scott recorded that tune only later, for her Impulse LP "Girl Talk". There is no unissued material from these two Prestige sessions.
  7. R.I.P. He wrote some great tunes that will immortalize him. And I like his arrangements, too. He knew how to write for strings.
  8. My wife's stepbrother has a jukebox. It sounds terrific! (Even with the generic German pop stuff he has filled in.)

The Barbara Carroll disc that can be found when scrolling down the page linked sounds great: http://www.soundfountain.com/cook/barbara-left-right-2.mp3
  10. This is a Prestige CD, PCD 24133-2, so it should be from the original master tapes. https://www.discogs.com/Richard-Groove-Holmes-Blue-Groove/master/1675501
  11. My own CDR of the CD with both trio LPs including the track they missed on the 1996 CD.
