  1. The Frankfurt library has a copy - but it will be mid April until I get there to pick them up. If nobody here is any faster ....
  2. ... and the other half is from JSngry ...
  3. Did not intend to bore anyone, just did not look at that two pianos thread. One cannot read all there is on here ....

  5. Stunning and beautiful music excellently performed. The level of knowledge about the music of the 16th century has increased considerably in the last twenty years. Any notion that the instruments of that era were not highly developped is put ad absurdum by such recordings. Bought the two at bargain price which the label offers whenever a new release is out: http://www.encelade.net/index.php/en/hikashop-menu-for-products-listing-2/product/25828-mottetti-e-canzoni-virtuose-by-the-guild-of-the-mercenaries

  7. The electric bass is somewhat obtrusive, but the music is good.
  8. Spinning this vinyl right now: I'd love a Mosaic of these albums, although I hate the sound Paul Goodman made - no bottom, drums way down in the mix without a trace of bass drum, piano on one side - extreme right on this album. I think I'll try to find a copy of that Camden set. Here ya go! How's that one titled? Can't find it on discogs.
  9. There has been a 1950's Morgan set on Mosaic - a 1960's studio set would be comparable to the 1960's Mobley set. Hancock and Gordon have been covered in complete long box sets on Blue Note. Silver was covered only in a career survey - a complete set would be huge and would have to be divided in three or four parts. Frankly, I am surprised by that Mobley set, although I see Cuscuna's point and know he's a big Mobley fan. The Blue Note catalogue has been milked to the last drops, eh?
  10. R.I.P. He was a very important figure, bringing a rational clarity to the music that was a refreshing counterpoint to the over-romantic orchestral approach favored at the time, and brought a different approach to Mahler and Bruckner, Any of his recordings with the SWR Orchestra are worth hearing.
  11. Genial Clare Fischer arrangements!
