  1. I had a '98 Carmenet Dynamite Cabernet last night. Very good.....though the '95 Carmenet ('Moon Mountan') is in a whole other league. Tonite it's a Brut Rose Cremant from the Loire with some Lobster Mac & Cheese that I'm gonna try my had at! Champagne Schmampagne! .. I can live with Cremant. Brownie won't like this!
  2. Hey, thanks everyone! Life has steadily improved for me and the kids since this terrible time last year. Kids are doing fine and all at school....and constantly complaining that I'm a nag (gotta love that! ). Chris, coincidentally, a friend is taking me to this show over at George Mason University for my B'day. Looking forward to it! http://cfa.gmu.edu/calendar/711/
  3. Um, JETman.....time to reign thyself in -- really!
  4. Same here....but only twice.
  5. Seriously? On eBay?
  6. If you want to rob apartments in a 10-story building, rent one on the upper floor and bring all the goods up with you. People only pay attention when someone is taking stuff down. .....oh, and um, if you get new auto tires, make sure you wash off that blue or green ink 'cause you're sending an 'I'm brand new....steal me!' message to the rest of the world. More helpful public service announcements to follow.
  7. I remember spying a bunch of Zappa recs in a second hand shop in your area (1981?) and was pleasantly surprised to find 'em all in NM condition. Definitely had expected those ones to have been used & abused by someone who'd been hammered like a mackerel.
  8. Saw Stephen Stills at the Birchmere tonite. Left after the first set. All around not good -- vocals and guitar playing. He needs to call it a day.
  9. Caught the Bill Charlap Trio at the Village Vanguard last weekend. Tony Bennett was sitting (alone) at the next table over. He looks pretty good for 84(?). Also met Lorraine Gordon there. That lady is a hoot. Pretty feisty she is!
  10. Yes it is. Went there several times in the 80's. The old 'Rathaus' is quite nice...I have a 1905 litho hanging in my home and admire it daily. Also recommend Czestochowa -- to see the Black Madonna and the Nobel that Lech walesa was awarded in '83. then.. ..and now
  11. Um, I beg to differ, amigo!
  12. Sounded very interesting....like a blast actually! .....so went ahead aand picked up some tix. http://sleepnomorenyc.com
  13. The best thing about the rain on Sat afternoon was that the pricks on meter patrol didn't ticket me on M Street in Georgetown a full 50 minutes after the meter had expired!! Unreal!
  14. Lots of strings IIRC?
  15. I slept through it. A wild night will do that to ya.
  16. Freddy Cole Quartet at Blues Alley.
  17. Happy Birthday. (...and where's Catesta?)
  18. Hey, Peter! ..Happy B'day! Smith Island....nice!
  19. Saw the Nilson Matta/Roni Ben-Hur Quartet at The Kitano last night. Great show.....heavy rains kept some away though.
  20. This weekend: Eric Alexander and Bill Charlap in ny.
  21. Kenya AA .....black
  22. Allen -- When you introduce a topic like this, what do you expect? Yes, exactly.
