  1. That's kind of a neat, definitely unique, story! If I'd been in your shoes back then -- living as you were in Romania 'cause Dad was the U.S. Ambassador -- I doubt I would have hatched such a plan to go out trick-or-treating just for the helluva it to see what might happen. Who were you dressed up as? Brezhnev?
  2. PM sent re:Coates.
  3. Kenny Dorham 'Pistol Whip' Jack Wilson 'Ether Highs' Dizzy Reece 'Soundin' Awful' Dizzy Reece 'Star Fucker'
  4. Same here! When I first spied the list I immediately locked onto all those Getz titles that have been acquired through eBay and thought RATS!!! Say, are you the guy thats been bidding against me on all those onedrop777 and takarayama auctions? Looking forward to getting the last two Stans ('West Coast Jazz' & "Jazz Giants '58) that I've been after. Good, thanks......it's that '59 material I'd like.
  5. Is this the '52 material or the '59 stuff? The domestic cd combines the two, right?
  6. Her husband -- a former 20 yr. CIA analyst-turned sausage guy -- makes all the Bratwurst for my annual Oktoberfest party. Honestly. What a world...heh..heh....heh.. Got some leftover sausages.........can we stuff 'er with that instead of duck? A Turbrat?
  7. If that's a Turkey, I wouldn't be too surprised. Are you saying that it wandered over from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?
  8. Just looked out the window and there it (she?) was! With Reagan National Airport a mile up the road, it's not something we'd usually see poking around the neighborhood.
  9. I have the analogue set and am pleased with both the sound quality & the packaging.
  10. http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_det...35535§ion=music
  11. What? I have to accompany you overseas for 18 months and play station manager when you launch that new Night Light's Asia program?
  12. Naa, had a few kid matters to deal with and a houseguest from Europe who was leaving the next day and who wanted to do a couple of things before flying out. I'd already taken him to the 'O' show the week before so I was hesitant to drag him over there again. Next time I'll ditch him at the airport 24-hrs before his flight.
  13. Saw the James Carter Organ Trio at Birdland on Friday and the Don Friedman Quartet at The Kitano on Sat. Ira Glasser was at the next table (his son Dave was playing alto & soprano)......I think I only saw him & the wife nod off once. He was 'okay'....Don & Billy Drummond were great!
  14. The Evans kid's mom is an old friend of my wife.................they got a raw deal.
  15. Is the Bley one 'The Floater Syndrome'?
  16. Oops, was typing while you posted. Guess there's no Ronnell.
  17. Like Ronnel Bright. ......and, speaking of Ronnell.... If he has a spare copy of Ronnell Bright's 'Bright's Spot,' I'd sure be interested.
  18. Now now! There'll be none of that cobra vs. mongoose political stuff goin' on! .......well, not unless he says something crazy like 'Bavarian beer sucks & Pelosi should be President!'
  19. It's simple -- 'anti-matter' buys 'matter' a Heineken Dark.
  20. Patrick, were you wearing the white dress shirt and sipping the martini? .... or the guy w/blue jacket wearing the specs? I think I was two tables over from you in the direction of the bar. Well, as others have noted, it was an excellent show with lots of toe tapping action! That 'Jimmy Smith Goes to DC 'is really a fine tune!! We caught the first two sets and had a good time talking with the guys & all over at the bar. Finally got to meet Bertrand and Mr. jazz as well....too bad Stefan wasn't able to swing in. If things work out schedule wise, maybe I'll see a few of you folks over at Johnny E's gig next week! Randy thinks Johnny's dying to give me a big hug!
