  1. Live music is still better.
  2. Mounds of snow are almost gone! Early morning flurries expected.
  3. Wolaver's Alta Gracia Coffee Porter Great breakfast beer!
  4. Winter rations: single malt scotch last night.
  5. Sure, why not? Last night's tipple: Wolaver’s Oatmeal Stout – Otter Creek Brewing/Wolaver’s, Middlebury, Vermont
  6. Stertorous is a medical term used to express a respiratory sound characterized by heavy snoring or gasping. It is caused by partial obstruction of airway above the level of the larynxand by vibrations of tissue of the naso-pharynx, pharynx or soft palate. (This distinguishes it from stridor which is caused by turbulent air flow below or in the larynx). It is low pitched, nonmusical and occurs during the inspiratory phase only. In general terms it is a snoring or snuffly sound. The patient is said to suffer from stertor. Stertorous breathing will be audible in the epileptic patient during the post-ictal phase following a tonic-clonic seizure.
  7. The island of Hy-brasil is not sinking! Everyone remain calm!
  8. He didn't really want to reach senescence anyway. It got very tedious in Synecdoche.
  9. Broncos, Seahawks party hard in NYC ahead of Super Bowl This may have been the real difference in the game. The Broncos partied a little harder than the Seahawks. From that first bad snap you could tell who was more hungover and sleep-deprived.
  10. The SB may have been satisfying in some way to many, particularly Seattle fans, but other than the halftime concert and the commercials, it was not very entertaining.
  11. ad·um·brate transitive verb \ˈa-dəm-ˌbrāt, a-ˈdəm-\ ad·um·brat·ed ad·um·brat·ing Definition of ADUMBRATE 1 : to foreshadow vaguely : intimate 2 : to suggest, disclose, or outline partially <adumbrate a plan> 3 : overshadow, obscure — ad·um·bra·tion noun — ad·um·bra·tive adjective — ad·um·bra·tive·ly adverb
  12. Defense was key, but also seemed like the Seahawks were better prepared and hungrier. The Broncos were too full of Papa Johns.
  13. I bought a couple of Douglases from Rondo, jazzbo. They both were o.k. but had that slightly off neck feel of a cheap guitar. One I sold, the other I modded and use for slide. Sounds like you got a better than average one. I do like neck thru's, though, and that's an unbeatable price.
  14. Mysteries of the Worm: Early Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos (Call of Cthulhu Fiction)Paperback – August 30, 2009 by Robert Bloch (Author) , Robert Price (Editor) , Steven Gilberts (Illustrator)
  15. You are correct! And C & T's version was more popular than America's, but somehow I've managed to avoid hearing it for 40 years! I'd like to hear Willis Alan Ramsey's original version, and his other tunes. The CD of his sole recorded album is commanding quite a handsome price on the used market. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJeyGreQYEE That's so mellow I almost nodded out.
  16. I remember liking the Challengers, not sure how it would hold up. I read through a bunch of Marvel reprints a few years back. It was fun, though much of it is obviously ridiculous from a modern adult perspective.
  17. He was a bit of a dupe for Stalin and Mao, but he meant well. An icon of Folk Music. RIP Pete.
  18. I still enjoy listening to and playing some '70's soft rock... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC-oP84mRME The Captain and Tennille? Never heard their cover version, guess it was popular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWRlfu6648U
  19. I've had this problem with Sony hardware before, but I don't know why it would suddenly occur if the player never had this problem before. You could try a lens cleaning. However, I suspect it is linked to Sony's counterfeit detection firmware.
  20. That sounds like an awesome guitar, jazzbo! Garcia and Santana are among my main influences tonally, so I would really dig it, too! Post some recordings when you have a chance.
  21. Al must not have as many guitars as I do.
  22. I change mine when I see significant black oxidation or corrosion (or after they break ). A couple of wraps around the peg and a pinch or two to get the stretch out keeps mine in tune.
  23. That orchestra version of #9 is much more musical than the original, but still no more than a curiosity to me. The repetition of the phrase does remind me of Monty Pythons "How To Recognize Different Types Of Tree (The Larch)": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPeFd5zQm_Y Nothing directly to do with the Beatles, but this is a more thematic non-musical album closer (and mercifully shorter): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGuDZr3zSxA
