  1. Yes, I was more wondering why so few recordings. I guess illness might explain the 5 silent years depending on what caused his early death. That scene was pretty alive still in the late 80s and he'd made an impact on the two EHE recordings. Also, somewhat telling that the only wiki entry is in Dutch. No entry in the English language version.
  2. Sitting listening to Ethnic Heritage Ensemble's 'Impressions' and hearing 'Light' Henry Huff's contributions makes me wonder what his story is. According to Discogs he played on EHE's 'Three Gentleman From Chikago', the Shadow Vignettes album and Infinite Spirit Music's 'Live Without Fear', all of which I really rate. Why no more recordings? Nothing since 1988 Anyone know any more about him? A quick Google search brought up little of relevance
  3. The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble - Impressions [Red Records, Italy 2023 RE] This is beautiful music making of some considerable depth, I'd say
  4. Just ordered my copy. I've not listened to new Shipp releases for a few years but have many in my collection and seen him several times so looking forward to this reigniting my interest. I'll be invoicing you Clifford for all the CD purchases reading this is bound to generate 😃
  5. Just reached for my Vocalion and found it's still sealed 🙃
  6. Lovely, haven't thought about this album for years
  7. Ok thanks, stopped sweating which is quite an achievement today...
  8. I didn't really want to hear that 😄 Sold out already!
  9. Ezra Collective tearing it up at Glastonbury
  10. Walt Dickerson - Peace [Inner City, 1976]
  11. Absolutely terrific. A real discovery and complete punt a few years back when Sam released it Drums, bass, guitar, flute, flowing longer tracks with a great groove and lots of space, think Chico Hamilton Pacific as the nearest comparison that comes to mind on a hot Sunday morning. Even better, have a listen
  12. Ron Jefferson Choir - S/T [Sam Records, France 2022 RE} Henry Threadgill's Zooid - Pop Start The Tape, Stop [Hardedge, 2004] accompaniment to reading in the autobiography about the development of his hubkaphone
  13. Cafe Oto, February 12th. Possibly his last gig.
  14. Arctic Monkeys at Glastonbury masterful display of Turner's songwriting prowess
  15. Sahm and Farrar, match made in heaven
  16. Soldier Of The Road
  17. Oh no! True titan for so many years, a radical at the forefront of European, and worldwide, music for nearly 60 years. He leaves such a broad discography. Like @RabshakehI was privileged to see him at Oto a few months ago. He played with great depth and verve. The subsequent announcement of his illness didn't really equate with that concert experience. The Tentet+1 Oto concert is still one of the most memorable I have attended. He was a good friend of Oto and visited regularly. Once at Oto I grabbed a quick word with him and he was so self-deprecating about what he'd just played. Let's also not forget his graphic art.
  18. I remember it all too well, watching it live. The final touch just before he shoots is exquisite. His other goal in the match was pretty good too...😁
  19. Doom jazz??! I have one Bohren album somewhere, not often played in the last 10+ years I have always rated the Fire! Orchestra albums more highly than the small group ones, the first one aside which I still think is great.
  20. Jackie McLean - Right Now! [Blue Note, 1966]
  21. Another 50 or so pages on and it's settled down a bit, it was the early years that seem just a bit too disjointed. Maybe that's actually a good way of representing how we remember decades ago, not in a straight line I do like the anecdote/musing combination which is really effective in the Vietnam section which is where I am now. Also, did I want to hear those preachers? Absolutely
