  1. A step closer to it coming home...
  2. OK, so that lineup really grabs my attention
  3. Enjoyed the podcast. The book's just been pushed off the top of my to read pile by a new William Blake biography but I'll get there
  4. That's it, makes me smile too. he looks very satisfied with himself. I'll try and hear the music, I've just checked the line up
  5. Barry Guy/Anthony Braxton & The London Jazz Composers Orchestra - Zurich Concerts [Intakt, Switzerland 1988] and the by way of contrast, two of today's arrivals Randy Weston - Blue Moses [CTI Records, 1972] Milt Jackson - Olinga [CTI Records, 1974] something about the rear cover photo makes me think I'd like this album...not sure why, I quit smoking 20 years ago
  6. Reading could do with the one-legged version too
  7. Definitely help rather than blame. Review in a few days
  8. David Sanborn - Time And The River Swept up in a wave of nostalgia thanks to a post from @Rabshakeh, I thought I'd see what Sanborn's been up to more recently. It was cheap...
  9. But he's crocked for the rest of the season...
  10. Me too now. The 'Hideaway' album was a gateway from Bowie to Jazz for me. Just looked it up, I saw him in a rammed Town & Country club in 1992, it was great.
  11. Love the album, as I do nearly all of his
  12. Which I had forgotten and now having trouble unhearing it in my mind

Waiting on two of the Ni Vu Ni LPs Not only available on LP, they're available as downloads too
  15. Thanks for the tip
  16. How's the Knoel Scott? I nearly bought it unheard yesterday I really rate that one. World Of Echo?
  17. That's such a good collection, shame about the label, to the best of my knowledge very grey market. I'd love to be corrected
  18. Thanks John, I'm still very much enjoying the others of his I bought from you 😂
  19. John, do you still have Lloyd McNeill's 'Asha' LP on a sale pile by any chance?
  20. Sadly there's more chance of me scoring an original 'True Blue' for £150 than Reading coming back up Chinese owner doesn't seem to be able to pay the taxes or the staff. Two sets of points deduction last year and two transfer embargoes means club is hollowed out. More chance of a consecutive relegation. Hoping for mid table mediocrity All of which means it's a bit ironic that I booked tickets to a match in a few weeks time, it will be the first match I have attended in 45 years
  21. His big move was from Newcastle to Liverpool and then later onto West Ham. He had a very big impact on his international debut with a great goal. It became apparent he really wasn't as good as everyone initially thought. A big traditional centre forward, really not seen much anymore, whose bulk outweighs his finesse, almost always referred to as Big Andy Carroll. Coming towards the end of his career playing for a side who aren't dealing too much in finesse, he's hardly setting the world on fire but still scoring goals now and again which is more than a lot of other Reading players! 🤣 His first competitive goal for the national team, not his debut. Euros 2012. Also, his last goal for England
  22. Those need and want words, give my partner much entertainment when it comes to my music purchasing statements
  23. 1) 1500+ LPs (still adding, too regularly), similar number of CDs (not really adding to),500+ in my download Bandcamp collection 2) I stream maximum 2 albums a day, of about an average 8 played per day, either from Tidal or Bandcamp. I use Tidal to sample but also have a saved collection of albums that don't merit purchasing in hard format. This isn't necessarily due to perceived quality but often a reflection of genre. Tidal Jazz selection doesn't often come up blank for titles I search. Tidal essential for out and about listening.
  24. JALC always sell out the Barbican in London too, fairly regular visitors
