  1. John Cage Damon Locks Alicia Keys
  2. I've not heard the name before. If you're on a solo sax thing at the moment let me recommend 'Dreamsing' by Rachel Musson. https://577records.bandcamp.com/album/dreamsing And no, I'm not her agent or family...
  3. Ideal work soundtrack Just reading about this, "provocative aplomb" sounds intriguing.
  4. Yep. It's almost a Jazz album. Morrison gave them little direction in the studio.
  5. Sounds like a perfect Sunday plan to me, it's odd how records have a habit of inveigling themselves into such plans. I didn't know Thomas was in the Wire, I'll buy that although I find much of the magazine has left me very far behind. Oto certainly seem to have invested in the book angle a lot over the last year. I'll admit to looking at many of the titles with a dread feeling of 'whoosh; thanks for the reassurance
  6. This really is shaping up to be a special release on initial play through the 4 discs
  7. That's a good 'un indeed. I haven't had it out for a while, is it cut at 45rpm for supposed better SQ? I never think to go to Oto to shop... In which case the £55 I just paid is a steal!
  8. I found a UK stockist for a lot less than £75 from Sam and have pre=ordered myself. I agree about the samples. I'm not sure why I expected you to know if it was good if you'd just purchased it
  9. Got it, fickle fancy of social media folk eh? I've never really enjoyed anything by Beresford but Pat Thomas, definitely. What would you recommend of Beresford's for me to have another try?
  10. I agree about Astral Spirits and I'd go for over saturation. Like other labels (Clean Feed?) when release schedules rachet up I suspect the eyes/ears that took care initially start to look elsewhere in the operation. Just guessing. But I'm not sure I hear much crossover between AS and International Anthem, different musical perspectives to my ears. Best thing I've heard is recent Tom Challenger. Not stellar but very good. And this https://sluchaj.bandcamp.com/album/di-logos There's been some good stuff from the Argentine label NendoDango which features Diaz and Shocron from above
  11. £75 outstanding? Ouch! the samples sound great mind you
  12. I see Sam are doing another pressing soon. I will try not to miss it this time. It is good isn't it?
  13. Yes, I really warmed to it today. Previously I'd found it a bit studied/academic but not today
  14. Waiting for UK distribution, usually happens with Pi
  15. God love The Beat, this meant so very much at the time
  16. isn't this why The Clash existed? Will you please stop reliving my teenage years Todd, Utopia, oh yes
  17. Ah, that's a great shame. I haven't listened to Sandanista for probably 20 years but I was in a 2nd hand store and they were discussing what to price it at - they went for £20. I remember it as a little sprawling but, as you say, very varied. I should try and find my copy. I still remember buying 'London Calling' on release day after school and then buying the CD after work on the day Strummer died as I didn't have a turntable set up then.
  18. You are indeed I'm off on a Clash nostalgia trip now. Mind you, I was discussing Sandanista only last weekend in a record shop. Biggest rock music regret never seeing them live when I had so many chances.
  19. Van Morrison - Astral Weeks {Warner bros., UK 1969] Richard Davis!
