  1. Just listened to David Murray's 'Deep River' and 'Ballads', the only time I saw Ralph Peterson Jr. was with Murray. He was great then and he stokes these two recordings whether playing hot or cool.
  2. Oh no! Hadn't listened to him in a while but his BN dates were great. He had some fine players on those dates.
  3. American Gods, season two, just started. Loved the book and this adaptation is keeping my eye ntetedt despite some longueurs.
  4. 2LP version
  5. Just read about the extra tracks. I'm happy to buy vinyl but the cost with postage to UK is £49 which means they've got be a great 20 minutes!
  6. Really enjoyed from Elmhurst University Jazz Festival Ryan Truesdell's Gil Evans Project presents Birth of the Cool
  7. Channelling the earlier ECM cover design, using Rainbow studio and Jan Erik Kongshaug, from 2015. inspired by the 'Ondas' discussion elsewhere. Very good indeed The follow-up ECM that never was Hutchfan? On Bandcamp here https://fwmrecords.bandcamp.com/album/beginning-and-end-of-knowing
  8. Nor me but my impression, and it's only an impression as I haven't looked anything up, is that ECM didn't make many recordings outside their favoured studios in those days (still only a small handful) so if he was back in NZ or Australia maybe Manfred couldn't find a studio he liked or couldn't be bothered to look
  9. Interesting, thanks. I'm tempted
  10. I didn't know that. Did Nock stay in Europe or go home I wonder.
  11. Just finished my first listen. Agree about the first track. Not too sure the rapper works in the context of the album either. Otherwise, very strong first impression.
  12. I'll be interested to know your feedback after living with it for a while
  13. Yes! One of my favourite ECM piano trio albums. Tends to fly under the radar I think
  14. Too right. Headphones this afternoon to avoid scaring the neighbours (and my partner as she worked)
  15. HJ had the DG reissue for a time
  16. the duet with church organ is extraordinary
  17. I'm even more happy to take the AZ after this week's published research from Public Health Scotland, "By the fourth week after receiving the initial dose, the Pfizer and Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines had reduced the risk of hospital admissions from Covid-19 by up to 85% and 94% respectively, according to a study by Scottish universities and Public Health Scotland. A mong people aged 80 and over, vaccination was associated with an 81% reduction in hospital admission risk in the fourth week, when the results for both vaccines were combined. The scientists, whose work is available online but has not yet been peer-reviewed, said the results from the two vaccines should not be compared. There was more data on people who were given the Pfizer vaccine, while the AstraZeneca vaccine had mostly been administered to older people." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/feb/22/one-vaccine-protection-severe-covid-evidence
  18. In preparation for their weekend's 'Birth Of The Cool' concert
  19. Thanks for the tip, two artists I haven't treally listened to. After all these years, Leo's graphic design team is still as quaintly inept as it's ever been...shoestring exercise, I realise but it does make me smile. Similarly with FMR
  20. And tomorrow, one of the best live albums ever perhaps? Here now,
  21. Italian brass band project La Banda is one of my most memorable London Jazz Festival gigs
