    Why fuck Pollini's nocturnes, exactly?
  3. That's good; I was worried that they thought me merely an incompetent doofus.
  4. Yeah, but, how's about a little Gould to elide those cringing cadences?
  5. What was that Deutsche Grammophon chamber music set like? Amadeus Quartet and soloists I think Vásáry, Leister, Hauptmann.
  6. Guess I'll have to get RealPlayer going, but I have heard Cole's Gaspard before... Curious as to impact of Hamelin. He can keep things so soft and smooth during difficult passages and never indulges in the Cziffra 'fast = loud' equivalence. As for the Rachmaninov op. 39, no. 6 I have an MP3 of Sergio Fiorentino going at it at the same tempo, so I guess the Lisitsas didn't have the intended impact here. Is there a Richter?
  7. Too bad her Gaspard de la nuit is a travesty. The Marc-André Hamelin videos are where the technique's at.
  8. But did or didn't you swallow René Kohler? Mr. Howell claims he didn't, but I think he just doesn't want to blow his cover any more than he already has. And just when I was thinking how nice it was that unknown orchestras could pass for the Vienna Philharmonic.
  9. How many can afford to curtail their spending because they already have 5,298 CDs, though?
  10. clementine's right: if it was written Tractatus-style maybe he could clean up the definitions and sound less confused by himself, because otherwise I'm going to think 'vibrational' more properly characterises my response to the average Penthouse pictorial (whence one description of his endeavour springs to mind). But I'm probably better off having you lot explain it for me. (By the way, not quite sure why you treat the 'illogical' excerpt as a chain of consequence and not a conjuction, The Magnificent Goldberg.)
  11. Don't forget that some ostensibly mono recordings have CDs with differing channels.
  12. Haven't yet seen anyone mention what must be his finest creation: Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.
  13. Posts #1 and #2 sound like real Thomas Kinkade stuff.
