Justin Timberlake + Comedy = Greatness?
Blue Train replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I am not a fan of his music, but he can seriously dance. I met him twice. He's exactly as Noj's friend describes him. He and SNL/Fallon just work. Love the History of Rap stuff, especially. For JSngry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK6f_MwyIL8 À chacun son goût, but The Roots are the best house band in late night history. -
Directing oneself to an Oscar nomination
Blue Train replied to Milestones's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I really think they were thinking of the Special Oscar they gave him 4 years before Hamlet. One thing is for sure. I doubt Olivier accepted his Oscars like Beningni. -

It's exactly the same situation as Olivier in Hamlet. He won for acting and the film won Best Picture. While nominated he didn't win that year's directors award. That was John Huston for The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Olivier did receive a special honorary award for producing, acting, and directing Henry V. Maybe what you heard about. -

Olivier also was nominated for Henry V and Richrd III The rest of the others would be Charlie Chaplin for the Circus, and The Great Dictator Orson Welles - Citizen Kane Kenneth Branagh - Henry V Kevin Costner - Dances with Wolves Roberto Benigni - Life is Beautiful -

Describes your behavior perfectly. I am not sure why you think I didn't see him playing in college. -

I know the rule difference. My point was you can't even see if that foot was inbounds. -

Thank you for proving my point on how much the Heisman is up there with the Grammys and Oscars. P.S. On that interception....there is no evidence at all that it actually would be considered one from any angle anyone can find for it. Was it amazingly athletic, yes....was it really an interception? Once again....what exactly is the reason for the Heisman? and taking away all the media hype involved...was he really even the best defensive player that year? Would he have even won if he wasn't on kick returns or eventually put him in as WR,...which once again shows how much of joke the Heisman happens to be. P.P.S. Reading who are Heisman winners is like reading who won the Best recording/Picture in Grammys, or Oscars. Mostly hype, marketing and most importantly WTF? http://www.heisman.com/index.php/heismanWinners -

Please remind us again what the Heisman is "allegedly" supposed to be awarded for?...and just where "career" has anything to do with it? With all that was going that year, or the vast majority of years....those that should have won it and didn't. If you even get into "careers"....he doesn't even register in comparison to those just on the defensive side that should have won it. Was he even the best defensive player that year? Is there anyone that really doesn't think the Heisman is the sports version of the the Grammys and Oscars? -

As a result of this whole thing....team(s) were asking players if they "liked" girls @ the combine. WTF? that has to do with playing the sport, I don't know. -
More interestingly, what breed of dogs, or cats do people have? We now have a Anatolian & Bernese. My first dog was a Spanish mastiff. She kept running me over when I was a kid coming back from school. haha God help anyone if they looked at me, or any of my siblings the wrong way.

I don't get the whole cat thing....but in the end to each his, or her own.

The last remaining alleged "sport" for Caucasians. -
In other words, they just don't give a fuck. They and another stations do it with new shows they like but are not getting good ratings. They pick episodes that they think will get better ratings....it kills the show if they do it too much with shows that the order shown matters. The most famous instance that I know would be The Prisoner. It was written in one order, filmed in another, and shown in yet another. Sometimes for big budget shows it's to cut down on costs. Babylon 5 while mostly in chronological order would film things out of order to cut down on costs of sets, costumes and makeup. It also didn't help Firefly that it was shown on Fridays.
-
I also liked last night's The Good Wife----very entertaining show. Also been watching some old episodes of Firefly. Firefly is classic cult show. Have you seen it in the intended order it was supposed to be shown? Fox pretty much killed the show by showing the episodes for whatever reason out of order initially. It's a lot better and makes a whole lot more sense in the correct order.

That's not my problem with it. You have an alleged Poe expert (who they're going to make out to be even smarter than Hannibal Lector) and all these alleged Poe nuts followers....and their entire mission is based on a misquote of Poe. Poe never said "the death of a woman is the most beautiful thing in the world." He did say 'the death of a beautiful woman is, unquestionably, the most poetical topic in the world' in The Philosophy of Composition. There is a big difference between those two. You would think one if not all the followers would call B.S. on the "expert" being an "expert" on Poe if he can't even get that right. The dialogue is embarrassing....and anyone want to explain to me why the followers didn't do what they later did once he escaped? Why just hang around and make it more complicated to do what they did?

According to the site it's $68.50 to Australia. Just like it is to the U.K. Just click like your buying it and than click ship outside the U.S. and scroll down to the destination. Interestingly, if we were in Afghanistan, or Iraq and even Iran it would be $59.75. You would think it would be a bit more expensive to get them there than the UK, or Australia.

Just think of what Kershaw (who is 2-years younger, a much better pitcher, and a lefty) + the drunken sailors that are the Dodgers will now get?
-
If you limit it to the sports with guaranteed contracts which isn't the NFL, which are more hype than anything....and those who actually finished the full 7+ years. It's a really a small list. Take out the NBA and it's just Jeter and the first Pujols....but teams keep handing them out.

Exactly!

The Oscars are a close second, IMHO. 1. You started an entire thread about something that went from it made it seem like you actually watched it. Then, it was you didn't even watch it. Your 'Spies" told you about. It's now been downgraded to you not only haven't seen it in years....you're basing it all on the Internet and Newspapers. Just how different is that from what Tea Baggers, Republicans, Religious nut-jobs, or what trolls do? 2. Then, it was @ some point only in your mind the Grammys were actually once about quality. 3. Then, you got JSngry to fall into one of your holes as he pointed out the absurdity of your posts. 4. Now, you're literally agreeing with what JSngry &/and or I were saying about the Grammys and Oscars being a joke when it comes to quality.

You can't make this up.

Did I write this about Schoenberg? I'm baffled...
Blue Train replied to Larry Kart's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Not an issue to me. I'm just wondering if I did write the damn thing. I can't answer that. Att the very least, you can get him to buy you @ least a bottle of some good Single Malt for using it without asking!
