  1. Yep - i like this CD it adds a different angle to my jazz collection.
  2. ME! In fact the only thing i dont like on the LP is the bagpipes track - but i like the fact somebody at least tried it! There is something i like about the vocal tracks (well maybe not Albert's) & many a time you can hear a voice from our shower bellowing - A MAANNN IS LIKE A TREEEEEEEE!!!!!!
  3. No offence taken Jim - I've been feeling a bit guilty any way after you put the effort in the least i could have done was a small post to acknowledge that i appreciate it .
  4. Umm i was one of those - SORRY. I have listened a few times & didnt have a clue who anybody was on the tracks & felt a bit of a fool. I will play it a few more times over the weekend & post what i think if its not too late.
  5. a steal http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...8&category=1056
  6. Wow! Maybe I should protect all of the corners on MY LPs...would duct tape be even better? Go for it & watch the value rise.
  7. Well its almost 12 here so i can exorcise that evil spirit that has possesed my avatar! It probably feels like you need to take a shower. PHHEWWWW!!! Thats better!
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=43690 oh adhesive tape PROTECTS a cover i thought it would fuck it up!

  10. Scary????? do you mind thats the love of my life your talking about!!!
  11. Gary: your new avatar is.... .....SACRILEGE????? i thought its was quite a funny halloween one at the time , but now when i see it next to my name I think ive gone a bit too far . Roll on 12 o'clock tonight so i can change it back to Trane.
  12. 'Miles Smiles' for me. Its one of my top 5 Miles albums (which is an unusual top 5 - it has about 15 titles in it!) .
  13. I think its handy for titles you just cant find anywhere & you are willing to pay what it takes to get it. I used it to get Tina Brooks - True Blue . I paid about £25 ($42) to an Australian company for a Japanese copy - I didnt mind i wanted it badly. Mind you i was a tad disapointed when it turned up a Spanish site for 6 euros ($7) about a month later!
  14. How scary is this ????????????? (christ i hope i can find my trane one again after halloween)
  15. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSS. there is a reason for that - I'm supposed to be working so I post my messages as fast as i can before my boss pokes his head into the office. I get home some evenings & reread my earlier posts & cringe at times. I'll take more care in future!
  16. I dabbled a bit in my early 20s , bought about 10 Cds (KOB , Giant Streps etc) that i'd listen to every now & again - then about 6 years ago (in my late 20s) i remember thinking one afternoon 'I havent played any jazz for ages' & havent listened to hardly anything else since . (not the same 10 cds mind ).
  17. Help ... I'm being sucked in too ....
  18. Great CD !! I picked this up after reading some of the quotes expecting a challenging listen ( i was right) , but was surprised how catchy some of the tracks are, Dark Rapture certainly sticks in the mind long after the last track has finished. I really enjoy the humour on some of the tracks, the dialogue & memories between them ( i wish i knew all the artists that some of tracks refer to , to really appreciate them) & the concept of the CD. i particularly liked My little grass shack 2 x 2 For M (an original tribute merging 2 Miles eras together). & Ayler Songs - Hal chooses two words that sum up Albert Ayler to a tee - 'HOLY SHIT'. A great choice for CD of the week King Ubu & many thanks for opening my ears to something new.
  19. Gotta be the King of the swingers.
  20. I stumbled accross the answer to your question in Paul Tingen's book Miles Beyond - On July 26 the band went into the studio again, and the results were released on an obscure single , with Holly-wuud on one side & Big Fun on the other. The pieces are less than 3 minutes each, with a nondescript vamp & some fairly purposeless soloing by Miles. The tracks were little more than jams and were never played live. Admitedly the tracks are not classic Miles , they have a nice groove & i feel this discrpition is a bit harsh.
  21. only 4 months late then http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...4259550-3213221
  22. Youre right The Molester is Black Satin . I've never heard Holly-wuud or Big Fun any where else.
  23. recommended if mixed with vodka
  24. Got it & replied (but got the error message again!)
  25. http://www.plosin.com/milesAhead/disco.asp...sp?id=IsleWight any help? I played this CD once & my wife shouted - 'Have you got an elephant in there with you?'
