  1. Is the bid for this one going towards the music or the LP cover ?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=2554207603
  2. There was a post here recently (by Big wheel i think) with this link http://web.archive.org/web/*sr_271nr_30/ht.../bluenote.com/* thres quite a few BNBB threads there. I've just been reading about the panic ordering when the Phil Woods Mosaic went out of Print from March 2001 http://web.archive.org/web/20010423103029/...TML/000363.html
  3. looking at the amount of replies/views of the current blindfold test i dont think anything needs changing. I've enjoyed this one very much indeed.
  4. Hmmm....according to Gary's post in the "Boxed set" forum, he went with J.J. Johnson, the AEC box and a Sonny Rollins disc. Let me see if I can figure this out now... Crikey - i thought i was the only one to remember my posts on here! Youre very good at the sleuthing Jazzmoose - yes its definately AEC
  5. I'm in the same boat as you NOJ ,(my disc arrived today) but i do definately know one track- TRACK 2 - I bought the disc(s) about a month ago & have been playing it to death ever since . I breathed a hefty sigh of relief when it started.
  6. ive heard a different version of this before , In the version i heard the dog goes on to say he used to frequently visit a web site or two & post he was a surgeon & that he knew Muhammed Ali ..............
  7. well said Morganized !
  8. ' Just been listening to 'Know what i mean ' & thought - wasnt there a Cannoball Adderley thread on Organissimo today ?? - I must mention it ! i've been beaten to it by a lonnnggg time . i've got quite alot of Bill Evans , hardly any Cannonball but all i heard was some beautiful jazz.
  9. Thats me - but if she catches me you can delete that f in shifty!
  10. Its Operation Mosaic Pt 4 tonight - Codename Chico Hamilton . Saved a bit a of money compared to saxaphone lessons , my wife & i agreed it was about time i updated my old briefcase that i take to work , so i changed it to a nice bigger shoulder bag that comes in very handy for anything I might order off the net and accidently put the delivery address as my workplace & not home.
  11. Sorry i cant provide a link , but this is the first time i've seen it availble to preorder - I copied this from the HMV UK website (not the cheapest place on the internet) . The release date over here looks to be 29 September (mmmm i belive that when i've actually got it in my hands). I cant wait I've been holding on to some cd tokens since July. 12. Thanks for the link Chaney , i think i might hold off buying it that price just yet. I did order 'Dissonant Characters' from Zweitausendeins, it was 1 of 10 Hat CDs i ordered . I went through the list of titles using the AMG sit & the Penguin guide to point in in the right direction (hopefully) & bought mostly titles from artists i havent heard.
  13. Thanks for all your recommendations - I finally received 2 of the 3 CDs i ordered last week . Aranum Moderne & Kulak 29 & 30. I couldnt get One Great Day . They are certainly 2 fine CDs . I particularly enjoy Andrea Parkins playing especially on the track i mentioned originally - 'For no good reason'. I have another one on the way 'Dissonent of Character ' from Germany (a bargain 4.99 euros) . Thanks again
  14. I have all these Miles titles & its unbelievably hard to choose between them all i think the most important ones would be LIVE EVIL (maybe my favourite Miles LP definately top 3) Agharta Pangea Complete Concert 64 If you like Its about time , you'll enjoy Black Beauty,Filmore East,& Dark Magus (I find In concert to be the weaker of these CDs). People all seem to vary when choosing a favourite from these- mine is Filmore East ,but it is heavily edited. Theres some cracking tunes on Big Fun especially GO Ahead John which is worth the money alone (youll like this CD if you enjoy the Bitches Brew period). Its an easy thing to say but you wont go wrong with any of these.
  15. Thats a fine avatar Rob C. I played that LP to my wife recently & she refused to believe how old it was . (sorry for going off topic everybody).
  16. its not the generational thing - I was born in '69 too. I must admit when i do find time to watch it I try to watch 1 & 2 together & just lose myself in it , i love the way the film/plot(s)/characters develop. The author of trainpotting Irvine Welsh's new novel carries on with the same characters & i found it just as enjoyable .Its a bit of an emabarrassing title to ask for - Porno. Danny Boyle does want to make the sequel but Ewan Macgregor doesnt supposedly.
  17. My automatic reaction is always this but the film i seem to revist most is this
  18. Before i go mad with my wallet , is there any must haves in the hatology list ? I have my eye on the Eskelin & Shipp titles , but they are the only 2 artists i know . Any recommendations on the others please?
  19. Yep & I am the Art Pepper too - i didnt get the Art Tatum but got both the Bill Evans (god knows when i'll get to the end of the Evans Fantasy box). The price of the Live Trane on Pablo from zweitausendeins is very good too compared to any prices here in the UK.
  20. Aggie87 are you making your way thorugh the Trane & Monk boxes ?? So am i - I'm trying to listening to one album per week .
  21. I've used buy it now on Ebay UK once - i picked up Tranes quintet Impulse box (which hardly ever seems to appear on the UK site ) for £25.00 (approx $40 ). I think its a case of being in the right place at the right time.
  22. I,ve picked up over the last couple of weeks JJ Johnson- Mosaic Sam Rivers - Mosaic (from Ebay) Lee Morgan- Infinity AEC box Phil Grenadier - Playful Intentions
  23. Ive got this on my computer at home & its a NIGTMARE trying to get rid of it. I'd advise everybody with XP to download the patch for it. I had great fun for 4 hours last night trying to fix it & just watching my computer reboot arter a couple of minutes on the web. Even i was surprised at the variety of swear words i managed to conjure up!
  24. my initial listening habits are similar to Roosters - i got into jazz by listening to Miles & then titles by the various sidemen that worked with him. Overall i think ive listened to more Miles than anybody(i certainly have a lot more of his recordings than any other artist in my collection - but maybe because of the variety of different styles in his back catolgue it makes it easier to keep dipping into) but lately its been more Trane & Monk .
  25. What's even more odd is the fact that all of Garrison's posts were made in the Musician's forum and he was asking about playing B3 and carried on like he knew everyone. He also hasn't posted since March. Something is fishy here. These are cetainly strange times on this board with people's IDs being taken & questions about real identities.
