No, I'm sorry Dan, you're fine. I just defensive when inclusive jazz discussions come about that look like they ignore free improv and far out avant stuff. Oh - i thought this came under progressive 60s - if not can i have my vote back & demand a recount
-
Progressive 60s for me please , followed closely by Classic Blue Note & post 60s progressive.

I m particularly looking forward to these tracks , I've often played the 'live - evil' tracks on their own . I would be nice to hear this box eventually - release date in the UK is tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Miles Davis "Live at Cellar Door" set on schedule
Gary replied to Claude's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Is looks like its going to be a good year next year! This , all those RVGs & an Albert Ayler box! -
I was just listening to the IS sessions yesterday - Disc 1 is QUALITY
-
This is a great idea. We could also get in on the Ayler tree material as well. Where does one start? 1. find someone who already has these discs who is willing to burn at least one copy of each 2. find someone to administer the tree and burn copies for 2 or 3 people, each of whom will burn copies for 2 or 3 people That is really it. My burner is on the fritz, so I am SOL for right now, otherwise I would volunteer to head this up. I should have a working burner in a few weeks, so, if someone was able to provide the initial copies of the Miles discs (or the Ayler discs, or any other interesting live trees we could come up with) I would be happy to organize the whole deal and start distribution once I was back up and running again. If a UK/Europe burner was needed _ I'd do it . I'd love to hear those Miles & Ayler trees.

Ive only ever seen that once - it was on Ebay at the time i was only on line at work. The bid ended at the weekend so when i left work on the Friday i (naively) left a bid for roughly £20 ($33) . Got back to work on Monday , crossed my fingers & logged on . It had eventually sold for £120 ($201).

After the Albert Ayler new box set thread appeared & the Hal Russell CD was nominated for CD of the week with the track 'Ayler Songs' , I got the urge to put on some Ayler Cds & have a bit of a hunt around the web for all things Ayler . I found this cracking site http://www.ayler.supanet.com/ with everything you need to know about the dicography etc , this site lead to thishttp://www.geocities.com/jeff_l_schwartz/ayler.html this appears to be a book about Albert & his music - I'm currently making my way through this, its very interesting - i have 'As serious as your life' on my bookshelf its currently jumping its place in the queue to next read status. Inevitably all this Ayler activity has led me to play of the Cds i have & i've ordered a couple more. The first album i bought was after some recommendations on the old blue note board its still my favourite. I remember thinking 'I've never heard anything like this ' when listening to it for the first time. Do any board members have any memories / thoughts on Albert they would like to share ? Did anybody see him in concert (stand up JohnS). Could any of the senior members of the board remember the reaction to Albert & his music at the time ? Thanks in advance .

that was me ! I said In the excellent Paul Tingen book 'Electric Miles - the explorations of Miles Davis 1967-1991' when discussing the On the Corner sessions he briefly mentions Columbia are to release a box set of the On the Corner sessions (page 139). If theres money to be made from Miles's legacy I cant see Columbia putting a full stop to the releases .

"The Darkness": a 1981-ish neo-"hair-band"
Gary replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Thanks for starting the thread rooster , you cant get away from them over here now they are infecting Organissimo!!!!! That bloody single is always on the radio , when i get home & my step daughter is watching music channels the videos on there constantly . They claim to be serious but looking at their video & image they've got to be being ironic . Havent they ??? -
Absolutely Definately 100 %

A grand spare anybody ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...9&category=1056 Why is it £1.50 P&P ????
-
Yeah , i've had a blank screen for most of the morning , I actually got a lot of work done today because of this , can it be sorted soon please - somebodies going to start asking why I'm not normally this productive !
-
Excellent !!! I cant wait - thanks for posting that Brandon (can you keep us up to date if you get any more news please) .
-
Did you really get it that fast? Yep - it arrived Friday morning. Before contacting you i found one site here that i could order it from at about a third more in price & the delivery estimate was two weeks (10 days longer than you ) . I think I'll have a major dilema where to get my Nessa CDs in the future!!! An exceptional CD by the way , when i logged on to the net after my first listen the first two words i typed into the search engine were Fred Hopkins.

Yes thats typical - my copy of 'Sonic Boom' should be here in the next couple of days.
-
i have 4 of the new Conns (sonic booms on the way) & each have the copycontrolled logo in the left hand of the tray & in a box on the back (about the size of a barcode) , exactly like the last batch of RVGs & BN new releases. I'm sure you wouldnt have missed it Swinging Swede . & yes it does play through their own programme on a PC , which downloads the first time you play a copy controlled BN.
-
I've had the office to myself today John Patton - Select (disc 1) Air - Time Charlie Rouse -Bossa Nova Bacchanal Andrew Hill - Passing Ships Elley Eskelin- Arcanum Moderne Hank - the flip Monk - Live at the IT club .
-
Thanks for the info David , I respect your views on this matter but to be honest I think i'll stick with the titles - they play on my CD deck, PC & car stereo & i really want the music.
-
Oh, please let me know if your copies are protected or not! My order is still pending because of the Morgan/Sonic boom cd! No risk - no fun!!! B) Bad News Alfred ! Ive just opened my Amazon package & all 4 ARE copyright protected.
