for those who missed out the cheap Universal Mosaics
Aggie87 replied to tjobbe's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Thanks for the tip too, David A. I just followed David M's lead and ordered the Basie. Delivered price is $46.50, better than even the zweitausendeins price before shipping. -
for those who missed out the cheap Universal Mosaics
Aggie87 replied to tjobbe's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
...update on my situation : I placed an order on February 22nd, for the following items: Wes Montgomery Riverside box Dexter Gordon Prestige box Count Basie Mosaic Roy Eldridge Mosaic Mercury Jazztet Mosaic Total order cost - about Euro 242.00, or roughly $300.00 (per disc cost of $6.66, which is how I justified it in my head). Anyway, due to their "storage warehouse relocation", it took them 3 weeks to send my order out, on March 11th (though they didn't confirm that for me until March 23rd). That order never showed up. On April 19, zweitausendeins finally agreed that the order was in fact missing, and informed me they would send a replacement order out. On Saturday I got an email notification that the order had been shipped. Hooray!!! However, on closer reading of the email, it seems that except for the Dexter Gordon box, all the other boxes are now sold out, so they aren't in my shipment. Yesterday I sent an email expressing my frustration and telling Stefan that I was angry about this whole order. I told him the shipping costs for this one box set are too high, for just one of the 5 box sets that I originally ordered (and that were AVAILABLE at the time I placed the order). He apologized and agreed to refund the shipping costs. That's nice, but I really WANTED those box sets. -

Hank Mobley Workout RVG - Did they fix the cover?
Aggie87 replied to monkboughtlunch's topic in Re-issues
How many artwork/cover screw ups has BN had in the past 10 yrs? What with the Boobys, the Hardcock, this one. I don't know if I want to "upgrade" this title or not, and if I do decide to, don't know if I'd rather buy it this way or wait for the corrected version. Anyone think this one will be worth something 10 yrs from now? -
Many happy returns!!!!!

...up again. YLT have a new CD that's only available at their website, much like "Sounds of the Sounds of Science". This new one is called "Yo La Tengo is Murdering the Classics" "They said it shouldn't be done, but we did it anyway. Starting in 1996, we've made an annual visit to WFMU during their fundraising marathon. People who pledge money to the station while we're on get to make a request, and we try to play it. And guess what? It's not that easy. Yo La Tengo Is Murdering the Classics is a 70-minute compilation drawn from 1996-2003, a Best-of, or Best-of-the-Worst, or Worst-of-the-Best, or . . . oh, what's the use, it's dreadful. No song titles will be provided, don't ask. Beautiful cover art by Adrian Tomine. Order at your own risk. No refunds." I just ordered it. I found a list of the tunes on a newsgroup, and will post it if anyone's interested. Looks warped but interesting!!

Cruise & Holmes Baby Name Really Means ... Language experts are amazed Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have named their baby daughter Suri because there is no record of the name meaning "Princess" in Hebrew. According to Hebrew linguists, Suri has only two meanings - one is a person from Syria and the other "go away" when addressed to a female. Hebrew expert Jonathan Went says, "I think it's fair to say they have made a mistake here. There are variations of the way the Hebrew name for princess is spelt but I have never seen it this way." Suri can also be translated into a Hindi boy's name, and it also means "pointy nose" in some Indian dialects and "pickpocket" in Japanese.

...from the North Coast Brewing Company: With the developing interest in Belgian abbey ales and the monasteries that brew them, it’s time to remind the world that here in the U.S., we have a Monk of our own. Jazz icon Thelonious Monk is the inspiration for North Coast Brewing’s new Belgian-style abbey ale called, appropriately enough, Brother Thelonious. The beer is being released in conjunction with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz (www.monkinstitute.org), and the brewery will make a contribution to the Institute for every case sold to support jazz education. Like a Belgian “Dark Strong Ale”, the beer is rich and robust with an ABV of 9%. The package is a 750 ml bottle with a traditional cork and wire finish and features a label picturing the jazz master himself. “Being a huge fan of Monk and his music has made working on this project something special”, said Doug Moody, North Coast’s Senior Vice-President and National Sales Manager. “We’re honored to be associated with a world class organization like the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz and feel that this terrific beer will represent its namesake well.” Look for Brother Thelonious wherever fine beers are sold and fine sounds are heard. The brand will be introduced initially in California. Seattle and Portland will follow shortly after that; then New York and Chicago and a national roll-out

I have been having troubles with my order too, Marcoliv. Placed on Feb 22, not arrived yet. Just yesterday they told me (finally) that they are going to ship a replacement. Why did your order get shipped to Madrid, when you are in Brazil? -
Best wishes!!

Great idea! Noooooooooooo!!!! Don't give Conn any ideas!!!

Thanks all! No big plans today. My son has a t-ball game this evening, which will be the highlight of the day for both him and me (and actually I can't think of too many things that would make the day better than spending time with my kids!). Maybe a beer and some Coltrane later tonight to finish things off. I've said it before, but I don't know of a better place to hang my cyber-hat than this board. Thank you for letting me be a part of it! PS - FFA, how did you sneak into the ladies locker room?? Oh, and Ron... orange clothes are verboten in my home, sorry to break it to ya!!!

NFL 2006 - Offseason/Draft/Free Agency
Aggie87 replied to Aggie87's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
The Cowboys signed safety Marcus Coleman today, previously with the Texans. He's been around 10 yrs, so he's not a young pup, but strengthens the free safety position a bit, which was IMO the most glaring weakness on the team at this point. I think they've done a good job addressing their needs this off season, to the point where they have alot of options in the draft (less than 2 weeks away!), and don't have to draft for a specific need. WR, FS, and LB may be their targets, if they don't trade down. So far they've signed: WR - Terrell Owens OL - Jason Fabini & Kyle Kosier TE - Ryan Hannam LB - Akin Ayodele, Rocky Boiman FS - Marcus Coleman, Keith Davis (re-signed) K - Mike Vanderjagt Other than TO & Vanderjagt, looks to be mostly solid but not splashy signings. I hated to see them let go of Larry Allen. Dude should never wear anyone else's uniform. -
Based on the thread title, I'm guessing "The Solo Album"

He seems very competitive, unhealthily fanatic about it. I wonder if his need to be in the press constantly of late is to "outdo" the press that Brad and Angelina get.

Cruise: I'll eat placenta TOM Cruise has claimed he will eat the PLACENTA after fiancée Katie Holmes has their baby. The actor, 43 — who wants her to give birth in silence according to his Scientology cult rules — said: “I’m gonna eat the placenta, too. “I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I’m going to eat the cord and the placenta right there.” But when a GQ magazine interviewer said it would be a big meal, Cruise replied: “OK, maybe I won’t.”
