  1. I think it's really good! Not sure whether mine has bonus tracks or not though... I also picked up "Minimum Maximum", which is quite good as well.
  2. At least there's a reserve on the set, so it won't be won for 12 Euro-cents.
  3. ....is that a Greenslade album on the wall? Kotter's a prog rock fan??
  4. I read somewhere that for hybrid cars where there's a comparable non-hybrid (i.e. Civic), it takes about 6 yrs to actually see the financial benefit to owning a hybrid. I don't know where I read this, but it seemed to be comparing the the additional purchase cost to the savings generated by the improved mileage (the real mileage, not what the manufacturers actually claim). Anybody else see an article like this anyway, or am I imagining it?
  5. - I just bought that a couple weeks ago Tony!
  6. ....at the 1979 World Series of Poker:

I picked this one up: ...actually, picked three up, and sold two on Ebay
  8. ...I wonder if I place another order if it will show up before my old one does??
  9. Gotta respectfully disagree there! Maybe the Mavericks would be easier competition for Detroit, but I don't think the two best teams in the NBA would be competing, then...
  10. Peter Parker?? ...maybe his nickname shouldn't have been Bird, but Spider.
  11. also listed (probably lost in the hoopla) Trio Mediaeval - Stella Maris (ECM) Andreas Schiff - Beethoven: The Piano Sonatas Vol 1 (ECM) Arvo Part - Part: Lamentate (ECM) Marc Johnson - Shades of Jade (mentioned again, just cuz it's worth it) Gilberto Gil - Electracustico How are the ECM's - does anyone have any of those yet (other than the Johnson, which I already have, and like alot)?
  12. <cr> means the "enter" key. In old typewriter terms, it means "carriage return".
  13. Oh and also, BMGmusic.com is offering free shipping on orders of 5 discs or more. I just ordered the Billie Holiday Verve Master Takes box from them, for $27.99, which works out to $4.66 per disc, delivered (beating yourmusic.com's price handily!). And I also ordered Glenn Gould's 3 disc Complete Goldberg Variations for $9.99 as well.
  14. ALERT ALERT!! Miles Davis Cellar Door Sessions is now listed at BMGmusic.com!! ($43.99)... Hopefully this means it will show up at yourmusic.com shortly! also at BMG: Marc Johnson - Shades of Jade
  15. Am I reading this right? He hopes to donate $40K (1/3 of his profits) from this one cd that's not on a major label (I assume)? Is $120K a normal profit for a recording like this?
  16. Joe, Caiman still has the Tal Farlow Mosaic set for $50.69. Can't beat that price for some great music! They're a reliable seller too.
  17. BF actually ponying up some funds? Yeah. Have to put the Single Malt on hold for now, I guess. And that's different from any other day because........?
  18. Sorry Sandy....but if you're ever in the area, I'd be glad to have you over for a fine malt beverage and a listening session! edit - As long as you leave your member # back in North Carolina!!
  19. Ok, since I'd like to improve Conn's taste in beverages.... to --> I'll buy this. PM sent!
  20. Because you're being so polite , I'll let you in on this one: Andrew Hill - Black Fire (not sure why this is listed as a new arrival) Miles Davis - Workin' Mark Knopfler - Sailing into Philadelphia Ibrahim Ferrer - Buenos Hermanos and there's the 3 disc Phish New Year's Eve '95 set that's been up for a few days, but hasn't been mentioned yet
  21. Does anybody have the Patton BN Comp "The Organization"? It's a UK only release, per allmusic. I've got all of his BN leader recordings (and alot, if not most of his BN sideman stuff), but this compilation still catches my eye for some reason. I still need to track down his two DIW releases, and eventually the Nilva (hoping that gets a CD issue someday).
  22. and hopefully a beer upgrade as well!
  23. I guess there are people more upset about T.O. being a Cowboy than I am....
  24. I don't know the whole story. He had some injuries last year, one to his neck I believe. I think that actually scared him enough that he decided to retire. That's what I've heard anyway. I heard he was "ok" enough to play last year after the injury, but decided he didn't want to, and wanted to walk away from the game healthy. The Cowboys (either Parcells or Jones) decided to not make a big deal out of it, and let him make his own decisions. I think he's got a young kid (or two now) and wanted to devote his time to his family, too. I think he was a great player! I watched him play for four years as an Aggie, and then in the NFL. He's the leading tackler in Aggie history (and until recently we actually had good defenses). He was a true overachiever, and I think a great role model. He's also from down here in south Texas (Rockport - little fishing community on the coast, where you can buy shrimp off the boats), and is beloved in the area.
