  1. Heads up for another Mehldau release coming up at the end of August: Pat Metheny & Brad Mehldau!
  2. I just gave a spin to the Material disc. Best I can tell, Wayne plays on: Black Light Eternal Drift Words of Advice Cucumber Slumber (Fluxus Mix) There are 20 performers on this thing, and instruments I'm not familiar with by name (baglama, ney, ghatam, qanoun, daff, and chatan), plus samples and synthesizers, so it's not always entirely clear to me what's being played by whom. I like the disc though, it's a fun listen.
  3. Are they the same ones, or do they have different titles now? heck, I guess i should go look....
  4. Attitudes like yours (and their results) - about it being just fine and dandy to CDR that you aren't paying for - contribute significantly to decline of the music business, and the disappearing mom-and-pop music stores, and the decrease in good music on ANY store shelves. Let me get this straight - you are a college graduate (?) heading towards a career in law, and you don't have a problem committing illegal activities that HURT the music you love?
  5. I enjoy the Rat thread as it is, actually too. And I can understand your point about the small "two post threads" as well, Flurin. I didn't really see the value in creating a whole new forum for a specific music category (if you can consider the music discussed in Funny Rat to be a specific style), that was really my main point, I suppose. If we did that should we create forums for "bebop", "hardbop", "dixieland", etc., which really becomes more about labelling the music instead of simply enjoying it. And there are too many things which aren't easily labelled (which is fine!).
  6. Finally called them today, and the person i spoke with (who didn't seem frazzled or upset, luckily) told me that typically things go to the warehouse in 5-7 days from the time of order, and then it takes 2-3 days for the warehouse to ship the order. So my order last Wednesday is still within the 5-7 day window of being sent to the warehouse apparently. He said I should receive a shipping notice (with tracking number) in a couple of days. I'm not convinced they're sending orders to the warehouse in the order they were received, based on the comments in this thread, but I guess if my order actually arrives here I can't complain too much, at this price.
  7. Bump... Dave Douglas has a new release just out, in the paperback series. This one is Keystone: Live in Sweden. I'm eyeing it, as I really enjoyed the previous paperback set, Live at Bimhuis. The band includes Gene Lake, Marcus Strickland, Adam Benjamin, Brad Jones, and DJ Olive. Anybody order this one yet?
  8. It's difficult to dive in the funny rat thread at times, like taking a sip from a fire hydrant. But couldn't these artists/releases be discussed in the "Artists", "New Releases" and "Recommendations" forums? Seems like a forum for this specific music would be sort of redundant (?).
  9. I'm sure he's very proud of you, even now Will say a prayer for you and your family tonight with my kids. Seconded!
  10. I just pray to get some sort of notification that my order will even be shipped! I'd be delighted with a tracking number!
  11. Man, where does the time go? Happy Happy, dude!
  12. Are you authorized to use the 12th Man term? (the rolleyes are for my alma mater, by the way).
  13. Lot of love shown for Free on this thread. I think it's time to revive the Happy Birthday Free thread once again. I think we've missed two or three of his birthdays as well!
  14. Fareed Haque and Everett Harp did albums in this series. Haque's was a cover of CSNY's "Deja Vu". Harp's was a cover of "What's Going On". I believe there were some others, and also think there is some prior discussion of this on the BB, but it's too difficult to perform the search and find it. edit - oh, and Bob Belden did "Tapestry".
  15. Well, whaddaya think, Matthew? I think it's well worth that price (but as you know I love that album!). What PT are you still missing?
  16. We have traded and/or sold things to each other Conn. You must have been drinking that cheap beer, and it's fogged your memory...
  17. Happy Happy Happy!
  18. From the U.S. Customs webpage: Alcoholic Beverages: One liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverages may be included in your exemption if: * You are 21 years old. * It is for your own use or as a gift. * It does not violate the laws of the state in which you arrive. Federal regulations allow you to bring back more than one liter of alcoholic beverage for personal use, but, as with extra tobacco, you will have to pay duty and Internal Revenue Service tax. While Federal regulations do not specify a limit on the amount of alcohol you may bring back for personal use, unusual quantities are liable to raise suspicions that you are importing the alcohol for other purposes, such as for resale. CBP officers are authorized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to make on-the-spot determinations that an importation is for commercial purposes, and may require you to obtain a permit to import the alcohol before releasing it to you. If you intend to bring back a substantial quantity of alcohol for your personal use, you should contact the port through which you will be re-entering the country, and make prior arrangements for entering the alcohol into the United States. Also, you should be aware that state laws might limit the amount of alcohol you can bring in without a license. If you arrive in a state that has limitations on the amount of alcohol you may bring in without a license, that state law will be enforced by CBP, even though it may be more restrictive than federal regulations. We recommend that you check with the state government before you go abroad about their limitations on quantities allowed for personal importation and additional state taxes that might apply. In brief, for both alcohol and tobacco, the quantities discussed in this booklet as being eligible for duty-free treatment may be included in your $800 or $1,600 exemption, just as any other purchase would be. But unlike other kinds of merchandise, amounts beyond those discussed here as being duty-free are taxed, even if you have not exceeded, or even met, your personal exemption. For example, if your exemption is $800 and you bring back three liters of wine and nothing else, two of those liters will be dutiable. Federal law prohibits shipping alcoholic beverages by mail within the United States.
  19. Well i suppose that's one way of looking at it... ....doesn't it just SUCK how badly they're screwing us in this sale??
  20. I am. Placed my order Wednesday night (30 discs, paid for shipping, order #5615), and have not yet received any shipping confirmation.
  21. 4 orders?
  22. All the BN's are now showing in the yourmusic new release section. And I hadn't realized that Sony had released that Springsteen 2 cd live set from 1975. It was the DVD that was released previously in the 3 disc Born to Run box, I believe.
