NFL 2006 - Offseason/Draft/Free Agency
Aggie87 replied to Aggie87's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Cowboys signed Vanderjagt today. I don't know much about him, other than what I've read (troubles with Manning a while back, plus the most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL). I think it's about time they brought in a solid kicker, after the revolving door of the past few years. For some positions it seems like they really like to go cheap, until it costs them - then they pay big bucks to solve that problem for a year or two, and then gradually go back to their ways. They did this with long snapper Jeff Robinson too. Now they're back to a no-name (Ladocier I think?) doing this. They've also brought in some help at OT, with Jason Fabini, and LB, with Akin Ayodele. I think at this point they still need to address FS (rumor on some of the boards that they're looking at Charles Woodson or Ty Law to switch to safety), another LB, and some additional OL help. Maybe the draft is the solution for those spots at this point. I'm still not real enthused about the T.O. thing. I don't know if winning is more important than character, but if it were my team he'd never be on it. -
I stopped looking in their various categories for new releases. Just do the overall "New Arrivals" section, & sort by "most recent" (instead of top selling, which makes no sense to me). It's easier to find the jazz stuff that way, I think.

up.... this from Music Tap:

Steven - How do you like this one? (if this ends up being strike three, I'm not asking again! )

The best I can tell is that it's a fancy name for wireless headphones. Alot of cell phones have them now, and you see the folks walking around with their kinda goofy (IMO) Borg earphone attached, jabbering away.

Ya gotta come back....if only to finish your A to Z thread...

Dave Douglas has another new released slated for 11 April, on greenleafmusic.com. It's called "Meaning and Mystery", and features Donny McCaslin on tenor saxophone, Uri Caine on fender rhodes, James Genus on bass, and Clarence Penn on drums :

Selling RVG-Connoisseur-20bit K2-Box Sets

I'm not a saint, and I'm not getting on that soapbox again. Maybe it's my turn to take a little break from posting here. Two hot-button topics (Jazzis' spam and illegal copying) back to back is a little much for me I guess. Sorry if I've offended anyone. -

He bought and paid for the cd, that's all good. He can then make backup copies for his own personal use, too. Including electronic copies that can be placed on Ipods or other devices. However, when the CD is sold, the right to possess backup copies of it is transferred to the new owner. He no longer can legally own backup copies of something he doesn't own the original of. There have been a number of discussions about the topic of illegal copies of music (of which I'd include copies that exist on an Ipod when you no longer own the cd) on this board. One simple response might have defused the whole situation after the first comment about removing the music from your Ipod, back on 24 Feb. There are alot of posters who have no problem with stealing music on this board. Your initial post made it sound like you were one of those. I apologize if that's not the case, but I never saw any clarification. -

I didn't see the post that said the music was deleted from the Ipod. I'm not concerned about the legality of purchasing used CDs. My point was regarding the legality of the seller keeping electronic copies of the music after selling the CD itself. When you sell the physical CD, you no longer own that particular copy of the music, and you no longer have the 'legal' right to keep an electronic (or cdr) backup copy. -

If you read the first post, it appears that the cd's are only purchased for the purpose of loading them onto the Ipod. I think it's fairly safe to say that this music hasn't been deleted. Also, there has been no rebuttal to the ongoing comments in this thread about the ethics of doing keeping illegal copies of music you no longer own. I'm curious to hear the defense. If it's no longer on the Ipod, great. -

Below what? Seriously, I'd like to see the justification for keeping this music on your Ipod after selling the CD's. -

I'd like to have McGinest. T.O. was released today. I'm nervous, because the Cowboys haven't made their "big splash" signing yet. They signed an O-line guy from Detroit (Kyle Kosier, who I've never heard of), and LB Akin Ayodele from Jacksonville. Cowboys released Keyshawn Johnson today, so they have some needs at WR. Seems like they're setting themselves up to get Owens. They also need a kicker, and Vinatieri's agent is Rosenhaus (T.O.'s agent)....maybe there's a package deal afloat... -
Hey!! That ain't quite my bag! Careful now, or I'll purchase this Philly neo-soul gem with "Maneater" on it, and have it shipped to you:

Ron must have been throwing me a bone again... The Essential Sonny Rollins - The RCA Years Miles Davis "Relaxin" is also showing up in the new arrivals, but I thought they'd had that one already.

For anyone interested, Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree apparently has a myspace webpage. I don't really care about any of the information on there, as it's not interesting, and apparently tongue-in-cheek for the most part. But one thing that's nice is that he's put his cover of Alanis Morrissette's "Thank U" on there. It's a solo acoustic version, and I like this better than the original (which I think is Alanis' best song, and one of the few of hers that i actually like). Check it out!

Guess there was a bad batch then, Joe! I bought mine from Tower online. Wrote to them, and they credited me back the cost, and told me not to even bother sending them the disc back. I can't in good conscience re-sell this disc, so I think I'm just going to throw it away. The novelty factor in this case doesn't do much for me.

NFL 2006 - Offseason/Draft/Free Agency
Aggie87 replied to Aggie87's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Well the owners & union came to their agreement, and free agency is set to start tonight at midnight EST. Who is your team going after? I've read more and more things about the Cowboys going after Terrell Owens, which if it turns out that way will really disappoint me. i don't care how talented that guy is, I will never acknowledge him after all he's done. I hope they pick up a quality free safety and address the offensive line. Maybe a linebacker (Lavar Arrington?), after Dat Nguyen's surprising and sad retirement. That guy was the epitome of an overachiever, all heart and guts. -
Ron - you're being generous by callling that stuff beer, ya know!
-
Happy Birthday Paul!! p.s. - I hope your middle name is Rick!

There are also other things that could be included. There's a couple of large threads over at SH talking about this stuff. You have the "Rock & Roll Music" release (which may have different mixes?), the Hollywood Bowl live album, and the Past Masters stuff that could be thrown in there at some point too. Personally, I have a hunch they'll box all of the remaining albums like this, regardless of whether they were the same or not.

up.... on deck for April 11th (supposedly), is The Capitol Albums, Volume 2! Albums included are The Early Beatles, Beatles VI, Help! and Rubber Soul, in both mono and stereo. Available in both the longbox version and a "brick", just like Volume 1. edit - whoa, I just became a Funkateer!!
