  1. I believe this archival BNBB photo is being considered for the box cover, or maybe one of the individual CD's...
  2. Extra 10% off: code G4PM12 Good through 28 July (Wednesday).
  3. PM'd you re: the Bernstein disc. Thanks Erik
  4. Power Man & Iron Fist! I used to dig them, and have a few old comics stashed away somewhere. Gonna have to dig them out one of these days. Also, I just happened to watch a recent Justice League cartoon with my 3 yr old son. When did Green Lantern go from white to black? I don't have a problem with this at all, just surprised me.
  5. I have a neighbor who has a Prius, and he loves it! Says he gets about 60 mpg on the highway. That alone is awful tempting. And it recharges itself, and accelerates pretty well. I believe Kevin Bresnahan was a proponent of Priuses earlier...maybe he can offer some more input. They look a little egg-shaped to me still, but at some point I may be able to get past that... edit: they're apparently not all that expensive, list (about $20K or so - I suppose that's pretty average these days). But I think they have a bit of a waiting list, if I understand correctly...
  6. "The Dallas Cowboys and George agreed on a one-year contract Friday, reports ESPN's Ed Werder. The base salary is $660,000 with a signing bonus of $1.54 million. With incentives, the deal is worth up to $3 million." What are y'all hearing up in Dallas about this, Jim? Or anyone else for that matter. I think it's a good signing if George can be the change of pace back, otherwise it may mess up Julius Jones' development. But that could potentially be one heck of a 1-2 combination! edit: the more I think about it, he might be a REALLY good back for Parcell's grind-it-out on offense and play strong defense philosophy. Might take a little more pressure off Carter to do great things at QB as well...
  7. You're right, Dave. White was in the Plastic Ono Band for a while. He played on the Live Peace in Toronto album, Imagine, and also on Harrison's All Things Must Pass. It's funny though. White has been Yes' drummer since 1972, for 32 years, and yet he still gets negatively compared to Bruford, who was their drummer for a total of 4 years. I understand the difference in their styles (at the core "jazzy" vs. power), and probably prefer Bruford's style myself, but White has been a solid rock in the ever changing Yes lineup ever since he joined.
  8. Doesn't Purdie claim to have drummed on half the Beatles' recordings, or something to that effect?
  9. up.... Eddie George rejected Tennessee's offer on Monday of $1.5M, and expects to be a free agent very shortly. The top 3 teams he's interested in? Dallas, Philly, and Tampa Bay. Will be interesting to see what happens to him. I hope he can play like the George of old as well.
  10. Newish at BMG: Bad Plus - Give Cannonball Adderly - Cannonball Plays Zawinul Peggy Lee - Things are Swingin' Wynton Marsalis - The Magic Hour David Bowie - Sound + Vision box set Cure - B Sides box Grant Lee Buffalo - Storm Hymnal various Pearl Jam live recordings
  11. I can almost forgive you listening to the first album, Moose. At least Foreigner employed Ian McDonald, a founding member of King Crimson, at that time. McDonald played on "In the Court of the Crimson King" and guested on "Red" as well. Upon reflection, what a career dropoff to go from KC to Foreigner!!
  12. Can " ?uestlove" be pronounced verbally, or is it just a written thing, like Prince's symbol, before he became the Artist Formerly Known as Prince?
  13. "Artists related to Foreigner" (from that lyric link): ·Journey ·Fleetwood Mac ·Bad Company ·Boston ·Eagles ·Heart ·Chicago ·Styx ·Toto ·Deep Purple
  14. I know it wasn't the focus of your question, but you might try the Dave Holland Big Band recording that came out in '02, "What Goes Around". He expanded his quintet into a 13 piece group, and the album is really enjoyable. The tunes are all re-recorded versions of songs from the quintet, and done well. Just a thought, and maybe an entryway into his music? edit - I believe a new big band recording is due out shortly as well...
  15. Caught a few minutes of this also. Flip and George Carlin were newscasters and doing a GREAT job - as good as the classic bits from the SNL news skits. What was it about Flip and dressing in drag?
  16. Too...busy...to...see...Sco???? My head's going to explode!!!!
  17. Great photos, Mark! Wish I had been there. It looks like you had a great vantage point. Did you happen to get a picture of Rachel? I'm assuming she was in the front row for the show. Glad to see the positive feedback on EnRoute as well! This one will be making my year end favorite list. -Erik

  19. That's enough out of you. I always wonder how the guy can type straight with all that beer in his tummy and all the bottles strewn about his keyboard. Amazing! He has all those women to type for him, you know...
  20. yeah, but how will they ever defend their country with just these?? Maybe that's why they always stay neutral!!
  21. Thanks Big Al, I always wondered how to spell that!
  22. Bad trader alert! It's ok Chris, we all have our skeletons, but really - Ratt??
  23. I bought a copy of "Terrapin Station" on vinyl in about 1980/81, and loved it. But most of the rock-n-roll I liked at the time was a little heavier, so I didn't follow it up and check out the earlier recordings. I just kept going back to that one everytime I wanted my fix of the Dead. Then a couple of years ago I picked up the Arista compilation and enjoyed it as well. A little voice inside me kept telling me to explore further, but it seemed overwhelming, to be honest - between all of the studio recordings, the live stuff, and the subsequent archival live recordings. But earlier this year I was able to nab a copy of the WB/Rhino box set for a good price, and have really been surprised at the quality of the music!! I've been enjoying all of those albums - great sound, great bonus tracks, and great book that came with the set. Could kick myself for not exploring their music earlier. I want to digest this box further, before exploring all of the live recordings. I just saw where they recently released another archival live recording, "Rockin' the Rhein", a 3 disc set from the '72 European tour. Looks like a good package.
