  1. Pliny the Elder was pretty presumptuous to name himself that. He didn't even have any offspring, and got lucky when his sister decided to call her son Pliny the Younger. Otherwise he'd just be....Pliny.
  2. Happy Birthday, Michael!

  4. I saw one post where you criticized Grimes' recent output, and Margaret challenged you on it by saying he was capable of playing the way you claim he can't. After that you made a ton of posts criticizing Margaret and Henry's playing, and throwing random things out like the first amendment and swimsuits. None of which is necessary. You're the aggressor here.
  5. I don't see any of what you're accusing her of in this thread.
  6. He can make it tough, but some of us are Cowboys fans since long before Jerry Jones bought the team and summarily fired Tom Landry and Tex Schramm. And we remain Cowboys fans despite Jones' overwhelming presence. That said, if you can manage to take his ego out of the equation, he's actually not a bad owner. He's a terrible GM though.
  7. If you like the Costello/Frisell thing, there's also the live album they put out, Deep Dead Blue: And also the "companion" album from Bacharach/Costello (no Frisell though), "Painted from Memory": A couple of Frisell albums that never clicked with me were the Frisell/Holland/Jones set, and the "American Blood/Safety in Numbers" thing.
  8. Happy Birthday!!
  9. Some Baltika #7 from St. Petersburg:
  10. I watched this video twice because you used the umlaut.
  11. Ok, I laughed.
  12. Man, I'd like to apologize for my attitude in this thread, it stunk!
  13. One thing to consider is that you're buying something that doesn't have one feature a normal cd has - the ability to re-sell it. This may or may not matter to you, but there's no real market for used CDRs, regardless of their origin. I know I'd never buy one.
  14. It was in Billboard on 11/21/70, according to the discussion on SH/original source link. See here. If you click the image it pulls up a larger, more legible copy.
  15. Happy Birthday, Mike! All the best for 2011!
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. Conn's gonna have a heart attack!
  18. I don't get it - if I understand what you're saying, you're ok with it in this song, in the context it's in. You just are in favor of censorship (like the Canadian ban) so the word can't be heard? Are you in favor of banning books like Huckleberry Finn so certain words can't be read, either?
  19. Back when I was in high school in Wiesbaden, I was a trumpet player in the regional honors band. Whigham came and did a workshop and perfored with the band, and was a fine musician and all around person. I enjoyed my brief time around him. Edit - the article says he's been doing this for 27 years - I guess I was in one of the the first seminars he did with the military schools over there!
  20. Happy Birthday, David! Wishing you the best for the coming year!
  21. Happy Birthday!
  22. Incredible run by Marshawn Lynch for the TD! I think just about every Saints defender had their hands on him at one point or another but couldn't bring him down.
