  1. For anyone interested, the 2 dvd "Insurgentes" set is available for pre-order from Burning Shed. First 2000 orders get a free gift, not sure what it is yet. Also, the reissue of Recordings is up for pre-order. If you like Stupid Dream/Lightbulb Sun, this one's a no-brainer. Appears to be a straight reissue of the original set, except in a digibook this time around.
  2. All the best for the coming year, Mike! I resolve to see one of your shows some time in the next year, too!
  3. Happy Birthday, kinuta!
  4. Still slow... Doug Wamble - Doug Wamble (w/guests Carrie Rodriguez & Charlie Hunter) Bobby McFerrin - Vocabularies Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Blvd Rarities Edition (i.e. 2nd disc of the previous deluxe edition) Bob Marley - Legend Rarities Edition (as above) Robert Cray - Authorized Bootleg 5/27/87
  5. Water Boarding (better use of that term, eh?) on Lady Bird Lake, Austin
  6. Blanco River, somewhere in the Hill Country, Texas 8/4/10
  7. I think another underlying reason is that we've come to expect a certain level of income without regard for the work being done. It's cheaper to farm industrial/manufacturing work out to other countries where people are willing to do the same jobs for significantly cheaper income. Side note - Baristas at Starbucks probably make more in tips than alot of people in poorer countries. Why is that? And why should I be expected to tip someone for making my coffee when I don't have to tip basically the same person at McDonalds? Who gets to decide which service jobs are tip-worthy and which aren't?
  8. And they never, ever, ever end. Ever. Yeah, but there's an upside - there *ARE* trombone babes out there!
  9. Happy Late B-day, Shawn! You get to sit at the grown-up's table now!
  10. Happy late B-Day, Lon! ...had some BBQ at the Salt Lick this past Thursday in your honor!
  11. A few images from the King Ranch today: Santa Gertrudis cattle with the King Ranch brand (the running W): Prickly Pear Cactus: Originally called the Santa Gertrudis Ranch, until some time after Richard King's passing in 1885:
  12. Happy Birthday to both of you!
  13. Going to be interesting in Cincinnati. WR corps of Terrell Owens, Ochocinco, and Antonio Bryant. Combustible personalities for sure - who's going to be the first to complain they're not getting enough balls thrown their way? Plus this team has Pacman Jones on it. And Cedric Benson. And Matt Jones. And Tank Johnson. Are there enough probation officers in Cincy to keep track of those guys??
  14. Happy Birthday Darko!
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. C&C doesn't interest me too much, but I'd be curious to hear your impressions of the concert if you go as well, Eric. I'm still debating on seeing them in San Antonio in a couple of weeks, having seen them 2x in the past year already now.
  17. Yeah David, you obviously aren't paying attention. You should stop paying attention like the rest of us.
  18. Alright Buzz! We want a review of the show!
  19. You're no troll...and I know who I'd rather hang out with any day of the week.
  20. RIP, Willem.
  21. Check out 'Animals', Bev. I think you'd enjoy it quite a bit actually. I don’t think any of PT’s albums are fusion, new age, or filler-ish. Perhaps you should listen to Porcupine Tree’s music before pronouncing judgment about them being “samey”.
  22. How can a band be both "ho-hum" and "seminal"?
