  1. I just want to know: How damn much are these boxed sets?! I haven't seen pricing on the boxes yet, but the individual CDs are available for pre-order at Amazon UK for £8.98 for the single discs, and £15.98 for the two double disc sets.
  2. Well played, Darko!
  3. And why is he signing other artists' work in the first place??
  4. My guess is that it will be a split decision (especially on the SH board!) on whether they actually sound better, but they will sound different than what we have now.
  5. This is the first time in 22 years that these albums have been reissued on CD. Only the 2nd cd issue ever. I would have liked to have seen 2 disc sets for each album - one with the album in stereo & mono where possible, and one with outtakes, alternates, etc. But I am interested in hearing these for sure! Apple doesn't move very fast, so these may be the last issues of this music for another 20 years, unless you consider the Andorran releases which will probably follow shortly.
  6. I wish Capitol would do a third box set of the U.S. issues.
  7. If I remember correctly, that's how they released the original CD issues. I remember having to wait to buy each batch as they came out.
  8. "My baby says she's traveling on the one after 909!" Big news for Beatles fans, they're releasing the Beatles' albums in remastered format (digipak I believe) on 9 Sept 09. This is in conjunction with the Beatles Rock Band game (which I could care less about, personally). They're releasing all 12 "proper" albums, along with Magical Mystery Tour and Past Masters I & II (which are now one set instead of two). Also, Paul & Ringo played together at the David Lynch Foundation this past Saturday:
  9. http://www.amazon.com/Goldfinger-Various-A...5939&sr=1-2 You shoulda gone with "Pussy Galore's Flying Circus" instead.
  10. Have you heard the album yet, 7/4? I'm curious about it, but haven't seen it locally (not that there's really any local stores anymore other than Best Buy). May have to order this one.
  11. Having a hard time getting into the game here. I'm guessing it will be more of the same in the 2nd half. In NBA news, Manu Ginobili is out for the remainder of the season with a foot injury. Whatever chance the Spurs had of making it to the NBA Finals is pretty much gone, I think. Duncan's battling injuries and resting games already, leaving only Parker of the "big 3" to really lead them. Without Manu and a not full-strength Duncan, they'll be lucky to get past the first round, I think.
  12. Astros displaying fine 5th place form tonight. Gonna be a long season for them, I think.
  13. If you're referring to Steven Wilson's "Insurgentes", it's very good. Stylistically it covers alot of ground, but touches on all the aspects of music that he likes and plays in his various bands (Porcupine Tree, No-Man, Blackfield, Bass Communion, IEM). The Special Edition (with the extra tracks on Disc 2) is sold out though, and was never available at retail - only through SW's website. There is a 2 disc version that's available through stores, but it's got the normal album on Disc 1 and a DVD-A of the same material (plus a video documentary thing) on disc 2. edit - I think there is a Japanese release of Insurgentes that may have the bonus tracks actually, if you're willing to pay bigger bucks.
  14. Fantastic album, Shawn! It's got a companion album titled "Deliverance", which is heavier and more typical of Opeth's sound. Steven Wilson produced both of these, along with Blackwater Park, as Use3D mentions. Ghost Reveries and Watershed are also both well worth checking out, if you like this sort of music.
  15. We Swedish-Americans even speak English funny, so I am sure you're correct, Hans!
  16. Trygve Seim/Frode Haltli - Yeraz
  17. I have both of those, bought them in spite of Botti's presence. He is actually decent on these, in a completely different context than his normal music. I agree with Jim in that he's got chops.
  18. Dear Lord.
  19. I think alot of our native English speaking board members could be a little more sensitive to this point, as well as being appreciative that so many people from so many different countries even make the attempt to communicate in English on this board in the first place. There's no way on earth I could communicate on any German, French, Swedish, Hebrew, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese, or Portuguese jazz (or other) websites, as effectively as people from all around the world do here in English.
  20. All your MP3 are belong to us!!
  21. Half Price Books: It is annoying to have to wade through their three or four legitimate used jazz CDs when you only want to look at hundreds of gray market Spanish CDs and other cheapo rip-offs. LOL! That ratio is very true at my 1/2 Pr Books too!
