Might not be compatible with Works. That is the potential problem with the Open Office solution that I suggested above, too. You would think MS would allow Works and Office to be compatible.

I'd agree with this. We're locked into Windows where I work (and with our partner firms, etc), and since I occasionally bring work home with me, it makes the most sense to have a system that easily can handle the work. Plus, I want my kids to be comfortable with Windows, so they're not a step behind everyone else when it comes to job hunting later in life. Unless they are in the small minority who are lucky enough not to have to work for someone else.

Well, that's kind of nasty, and both post more about jazz than I do... Seriously? I've never seen either post on a music thread. Maybe they haunt different threads than I do. Weizen pops into hardbop and TOJC/mini-LP threads, while Berigan likes to drop in on swing/early-jazz threads (not a whole lot of those here, generally speaking). They're both pretty passionate jazz fans--I can attest to that. I agree - and it seems almost mean spirited to attack them like that, especially when there are certainly posters on the other side of the political spectrum who post almost exclusively in the political forum.

I'm pretty sure we've done this exercise more than once before, but it's difficult to search for ECM in thread titles here. Here's Your 10 (or 5, or 3) favorite ECM albums. More ECM threads listed in that one: Favourite ECM-ECM New Series Album ECM to begin reissues ECM reissue thoughts

Do you have this one already, Joe? If so, how do you like it?

Chris - I believe Open Office, which is freeware, allows you to save files in Word format, and I think there is Open Office for the Mac. I don't know if Works can read Word documents though (?), or if there's a way to convert them. I'm sure one of the more computer literate people on the board could answer this. Might be worth checking out, and might save you the trouble of having an additional operating system that you don't want/like.

What live music are you going to see tonight?

What's also funny is that I was in Waterloo on Friday afternoon, and I think Buzz might have been, too. But I was only there from 3:37 to 3:52, so you may have missed me. -
Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Etc. Jazz & Other Concerts

How were the shows, Mike? I would have loved to have been there - I was in Austin on Friday, but had family commitments. -
A&M is out of it's league, I think. I thought they might have been better than they actually are, but playing a #1 seriously exposes their game. They can't even take advantage of the 7 footer being on the bench for UConn. It would help if they could play defense, too. Allowing 51 points in a half to anyone is pretty poor.

Don't forget Metallica at Stubb's tomorrow night - though I'm sure that one's not free LOL. Maybe you'll run into BFrank somewhere too. -
Speeding / Traffic Ticket Blues

I imagine the drag from the trombone would prevent you from driving faster than the speed limit anyway. -
I think I set mine up, we'll see! I'm sure I'll end up low man on the totem pole though.

Didn't he have a major collection of snakes or reptiles or something too? edit - Oh yeah, and he used to hang with Jimmy Page, too. -
No kidding! I think Ausmus was catching for Mike Scott & Nolan Ryan back in the 80's! Well, no. But in defense of the aging Ivy leaguer, in his first AB this spring, he doubled. In his second at bat, he singled and stole second off Geovanny Soto. He's going to make a solid back up for Russell Martin. I have a baseball that i got signed by Scott, Ryan, and catcher Alan Ashby (and a slew of teammates - Billy Hatcher, Glenn Davis, Bill Doran, Charlie Kerfeld, even Hal Lanier signed it for me), so I know he wasn't around back then - was just playin'. Unfortunately the ball was used and well worn, because I wasn't expecting to get down on the field that day.

Congratulations! She'll be the best thing that's ever happened to you. Plus, she has an attitude already - mooning you!

Astros have signed Pudge Rodriguez, apparently. Good or bad move? I'm not up on Pudge.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't believe that's a gray market disc at all. If it's the Spanish Time-Life issue, it was a legitimate release in Spain. The only thing is that it was intended only for the Spanish market, so the fact that it got out elsewhere was an issue I believe. There are still copies of some of these blue-tinted BN's at my local Half Price Books.

We did lose board member Mnytalk (think that was his name) a while back. He was quite a character, if everything he said was to be believed.
