  1. Take it to the political forum dude. ← No. This isn't politics. You explain our president's attitude to me.
  2. Bush has zero tolerance for people taking water, food, or clothing to survive. ---quote during his interview with Diane Sawyer this morning.
  3. They mentioned this on Nightline last night. A musicologist in NO said Fats had a "Graceland"-type think happening in the 9th ward. I get the feeling his people wouldn't have let him not survive. I think he'll turn up. Probably just stuck in the inner city that the government seems not to be caring about except for the looting situation (sorry, that was a zing I couldn't help).
  4. WTF. My thoughts exactly. And I'm not saying that people in charge don't want to help. But what the hell has the Gov. been doing since 9/11???? I thought we had devoted a huge amound of resources to figuring out how to help large urban areas after catostrophic situations.
  5. This is our Office of Homeland Security in action.
  6. The report I saw on CNN that was most disturbing is that there are thousands at the Convention Center with no food, water or sanitation. People are dying as we speak there and dozens of bodies litter the inside of the Convention Center. There is no food or water or help being given there and people are in a state of dire straights. Yet the only government contact they have is soldiers driving through with guns pointed, and they won't stop. Unbelievable.
  7. I wish we could get over the "looting" issue. Who gives a damn. Let people take what they want. People need help...food, water, shelter, medical attention. And here we are diverting manpower to f-ing looting. I saw Scott McClellon speaking for the White House and I've never seen such a clueless response. The only thing he spoke with any authority was "We have zero tolerance for looting. Even for food and water for survival, it won't be tolerated. There's places to go to get food and water."
  8. I just downloaded this from iTunes and am interested if anybody else has had a chance to pick this up yet. To me honest, I haven't ever heard Sonny in a live setting this recent. It's a pretty revelatory experience for me. Haven't had a chance to hear the whole thing yet, but it's bringing me a lot of joy so far. Hope Sonny decides to keep putting his live stuff out, maybe via his website like he mentioned in another article.
  9. just downloaded this from iTunes....wow, what a great recording. Just a thought, does anybody notice any vibe crossover between Rollins and Albert Ayler. I'm especially thinking of timbre and some of Sonny's improvs especially on "Global Warming" having the same sort of bugle call-type theme involved as well....
  10. Wondering if you ever got in word back from Eric?
  11. Better watch out, AAJ may send some boys out to rough you guys up for being on their turf.... Congrats on all the great gigs!!!!
  12. This is the stuff the national guard was really meant and needed for. Hope we have enough of them left to do what's needed in LA.
  13. Sad thing was I really WANTED to watch this, like this, ect. I knew it was going to be violent, ect., just wasn't really ready for what I saw. Perhaps I could try again, but the experience took the wind out of my sails. What really disturbs me is this is the same guy that brings us Spy Kids.
  14. I rented this last week and couldn't watch but about 30 minutes of it. TOO violent. I just can't watch that sort of stomach turning violence. A rush to some, but I go into a..."why do we live in such a violence-glorifying world"-mode and get depressed.
  15. Mine was Larry Young. I knew who he was but had never heard his music since none of his Blue Notes were available on CD until the Mosaic came out. I had just started playing B3 and this set really made the whole thing for me.....
  16. maybe he should change his name to "youmustbeinformed"
  17. I don't get it. I thought this was the COMPLETE. Once again, an incomplete complete.
  18. Didn't know he played with Lawrence Welk. A sidenote...watching a LW rerun on T.V. is like being on acid. Could this have happened or was it all just a glitzy dream from outer space. My kids have watched with me and they were just rolling.
  19. Paul Humphrey IS supermellow and super styling.
  20. Wow is right. I also didn't know we had "primary boards".... and...You mean Jim doesn't make ya'll pay to be on this site! I knew I was getting screwed. Well....just a thought. I thought it might be cool to get some of the older cats that maybe don't get a lot of press or chance to talk about their projects, ect. a place to come and hang a little bit, ect....
  21. Well, no matter what...I'D like to see that show!!!!
  22. I dig the "Catching Up With" thread on the AAJ Forums. They have a good discussion with Greg Osby right now and have had some other good ones. I wondered if we could try and do the same thing here. Personally, I'd like to get a discussion going with some of the older cats still around. Maybe it's a generational thing since those guys may not be as computer savvy. But certainly, some are. Anybody have any thoughts on this?
  23. I DO miss that feeling of hearing a BN session for the first time. Oh, to be in love again!
  24. Was he originally scheduled and then dropped out? I confess, I don't know much about the non-recorded side of James Spaulding. Does he play shows much these days?
  25. Thanks for elaborating...
