Boardmembers, Given the recent fact that items offered on the board are sold almost as fast as they are posted, I was just wondering where you guys found that new software that causes your computer to "ding" everytime something new is posted on the Organissimo board. I know that Big Al would also be interested in the software given that he missed that Mobley Mosiac recently. What do you say Big Al? I also feel sure that Al and I could not be the only ones to have noticed the shear breakneck speed with which items have been disappearing lately!! Wow!! Please Jim,others would like in on this deal. Just let us know where you can get the Organissimo "ding" software or we may not be able to purchase anything ever again! . . . . . Just so you guys don't feel too sorry for me...I did pick up the Tyronne Washington, Natural Essence, TOCJ today, used, and for a very nice price! ding, Morganized

One of my favorite sites to buy cd's and books ( and the cheapest) has been " performing maintenance on the site" for the past 2 days.......Is there more to the story? Does anyone here know wasup?
-
I have looked for these as well. Anyone have a good line on the Lonehill release that Garth references here. Thanks
-
Hello Reinier, Maybe you share his rating system.......... I kind of doubt it.

Board Members, If you believe that a cd that is all scratched up, but still plays, is a " cd in vg condition", then this is the Seller for you!!!

I agree with Rooster. There is nothing more annoying than to get ready to purchase and be in the middle of checking out, only to find out that shipping cost change your desire to purchase the item in the first place. At that point I usually just say no thanks.....and speaking of shipping, it is the bane of on line purchases. Many times the shipping cost will make the item more than what you can purchase it for at a brick and mortar. Figure out a way to beat that and you win every time.

Don't want to jump into the middle of this debate but Hans made a point here about noise reduction that I would like to share. I "rediscovered" Dexter Gordon through the live recordings on Black Lion. Started with "Both Sides of Midnight" and loved it so much I wanted to get the whole set. I picked up another recording of the session on Black Lion and one on the Jazzhaus label I believe(which is Black Lion I think). Anyway, the last recording of the session that I found was the 24 bit version of "Body and Soul" put out by 1201 Records. I hope I am not stepping on any toes here, because for all I know the recording engineer for 1201 is a member, but I found the sound on the 1201 to be considerably different than on the Black Lions. To me it was almost muffled. It didn't have the tinkling glasses in the background of the live set, but it also lost a lot of its punch and cut off Gordon's style. It was one of the few times that I can remember actually searching out a recording of the same session on another label just because of the mastering. I did find "Body and Soul" on the Black Lion label. It was improved I thought. Not drastically, but noticeably IMHO. I did end up with the entire set and it is a wonderful set. Love the music.....but remastering can make a difference.

Gosh Chuck..not trying to pick a fight! Merely pointing out that risk of loss is a negotiated item like everything else in a contract.......Whew. OBVIOUSLY proof of shipping may vary depending upon to where shipment is made. In the case of international shipments obviously a Proof of Mailing would be a place to start...........and I am sorry, I DON'T know what that will cost you....... Not that tough really. Although the UCC Art. 2-Sale of Goods-- refers to legalistic terms like FOB Buyer or FOB Seller, in lay terms it would probably work out like this. If the Seller guarantees delivery then the risk of loss is upon the Seller until such time as the Buyer receives the goods. If the Seller only guarantees shipment, then the risk of loss falls upon the Buyer from the time the goods are shipped. HERE is the rub. Seller still has the obligation to PROVE shipment. In other words, Seller is not necessarily responsible for items lost in the mail; but, he likely has to prove that the items WERE in fact mailed. Moral of the story.... always pay the 55 cents and get a Certification of Delivery or Proof of Mailing or some other evidence identifying the particular items shipped and when. Otherwise, I am afraid you may be stuck my friend..... Other views and opinions welcomed.

2006 annual wish-list for Conns (or maybe Waters?)
Morganized replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Re-issues
If I remember correctly Michael Cuscuna has said that this series won't be revived because of poor sales. I don't think it was Cuscuna who said that the West Coast Classics bombed. It was Tom Evered (tomatbluenote) who said it bombed. Cuscuna is still trying to get the PJ stuff out as evidenced by his work with Mighty Quinn. Kevin Thanks for the correction, Kevin. Glad to hear Cuscuna is still in there pitching. There is some great stuff on Pacific. -

If I remember correctly Michael Cuscuna has said that this series won't be revived because of poor sales. I think both of you guys are correct and it is the classic example of why Blue Note needs to leave their releases in print a lot longer than they do. This series took a little warming up to but man is it great stuff.....if you can find it. I was late to the game on this series as well. Have eventually found all of them in one place or another. Nice sets. So many folks have found this one too late. Sometimes you have to give people a chance to come around. Sometimes I think Blue Note thinks they are pressing pop hits. 8 weeks and its gone. I agree with you. It deserves a second coming! -
