2009, when the recordings go into public domain in Europe. BTW, the Hampton Hawes set is probably in violation of copyrights for taking over the original artwork (something that previous Definitive CDs have always avoided). I suspect that the Andorreans have gotten (bad?) legal advice on the artwork question, since a large number of CD releases now have the same cover art (with minor differences in title and so on). Clark Terry and Ruby Braff are particularly notable. If it is a violation of copyrights, they'll probably get away with it - I don't think taking them to court is cost-effective. Actually I have noticed that they have been releasing some of this material in advance of the 50 year period.....probably for the same reason cited by Hans. Not cost effective to pursue.

Pay for a subscription to SoundScan and you will know everything. It's strictly an idle and miserly curiosity.

Huge improvement. All of the boxes Concord has produced of the Fantasy-owned material have been exemplary in terms of concept, remastering, packaging, and price. This is a public service announcement: FUCK CONCORD!!! Now back to regularly scheduled programming. Guy And the people responsible for those packages have been terminated. I know there was a bunch of stuff in the pipeline before the closing of the Fantasy facility so it will take (maybe) a year for the "Concord produced" items to reach the public. I recognize the feelings.....your post brought a but in my heart I feel your pain..... hang in there, good luck, and God Bless.

Same here, albeit almost 30 years later. 26 years later for me, and I don't know if I was looking for more depth than rock 'n' roll, but I know I was bored by what was on the radio. Crusaders, Grover Washington, Bob James - these kinds of musicians have probably led more of my generation towards discovering Gene Ammons and Booker Ervin than anyone else. Funny when you think how, for some, they and their ilk represented the nadir of jazz. My story is similar to many already posted. As a teenager I loved old rock and roll, early Beatles, Stones, etc. Through that I ran into John Mayhall and followed that thread for a while. Got extremely bored with pop radio. Knew the tune in three notes. That led to the Contempory Jazz of the times...Grover Washington, the Crusders, Bob James, David Sanborn, yada yada.......followed that thread for a number of years until it went completely "smooth"......and couldn't take it anymore. Decided to look to the past and picked up Kind of Blue and a Coltrane compilation of his Atlantic output.....After that I was hooked on the real thing and wondered why it had taken me so long to find it.....Many CDs and many years later I am still intrigued by music and the artists who make it.

A touchy subject, so bring your big boy pants

At least your in good company. It all probably started with Bix & Tram and has been going on ever since. Can't please everybody. Especially the ignorant, racially-minded "fu@K heads" out there walking the earth. Art Pepper sure fought the stereotype. I think it is written about several times in some of the books about his life and career. -
Prices for this one are all over the map. Check this out.....about $25. TONY WILLIAMS

Some wise advice, though you're eventually going to want to get that Footprints Live CD, as well as Beyond the Sound Barrier. Some of the best jazz recorded this millennium. Yes! What Sal says as well. It is a great sesssion. Brlliant work IMHO. I don't think you get as much out of it however, if you are not fairly familiar with his previous work. To me, in his newest work, Wayne is telling us where he has been, where he is now, and where he might be going. It is truly magnificent work from a great master. It is autobiographical in a way. I love it.

What Shawn said. I love Wayne and would suggest you stay away from his Footprints(Verve) CD...and some of his latest work until you have spent a lot of time with all of the above. Enjoy the ride!

and just WHO might be the Seller of that fine date!

Maybe this is not the right topic for this ....maybe it should go under the "ebay madness" heading. Tony Williams Do you think anyone at Blue Note is paying attention?

I recently picked up the one Paul mentions and found it to be very good. I am not at all familiar with her work. Is Ken's comment above still the case? Have any been released lately? Are they all pretty much OOP. Thanks

Had mine removed about 15 years ago. Before the "new" method. Had little choice. Woke up in the middle of the night doubled over. Felt like someone had their fist in my chest, right below my rib cage. Don't wait too long because Berigan is right, the problems increase significantly if a gall stone gets lodged in the bile duct. I am not a doctor and I did not have that problem but it is my understanding that it increases the difficulty of the surgery and the period of recovery. Of course go for a second opinion if you feel like it. Your doctor should not object and if he does get another doctor. By the way, outside of the large scar (which you will probably not have if it is not emergency surgery) the results have been very good. I can eat most anything now and seldom have the problems I had before surgery. Takes a while, actually many months, before everything gets calmed back down but it will. Give it some time. Can't speak to the olive oil method. Good luck.

Mine only fetched $56.00 (ended Saturday), so the price is coming down. PhillyQ got $81 for his. It's all relative. I know, I know...the law of supply and demand....... yada, yada, but at the end of the day it is still only a CD for gosh sakes...... Congratulations
