  1. I followed the instructions in the e-mail & everything worked just fine.
  2. FFA, there was a comment to the New York Times article that said that there would probably be a delay as their computers filtered out all of the people who ordered more than one using different credit cards. But that was speculation. When I went to bed last night, over 1,300,000 had been sold with seven hours to go. Maybe we should have a thread about how you spent the coupon! Once I get the coupon I'll decide how to use it. May put it toward the Getz Clef Norgran 3 CD set.
  3. I only met / heard Stephenson speak once. He didn't come across to me as a poseur / exploiter.
  4. Danny "DEEP" - haven't seen that name in a while. Interesting article. The Stephenson Jazz Loft book is excellent (IMHO). I met him & he signed my copy.
  5. I went to check this one out, blinked when I saw it, then went to my shelves to see if the original LP also had the picture reversed. It does: Woody's playing a left-handed trumpet (with his left hand) there, too... Maybe that could be a good topic: obviously-reversed cover photos. Right - like the Eldridge Mosaic cover.
  6. My 5 cents, the first book is better than it gets weaker for each following effort, it's not great litterature by any means, to be quite mean you're kinda of happy there won't be a 4th volume the themes are interesting about how machist Sweden is and what really goes on there behing the cover of social-democracy , but in a way the writer makes a mess of them all. Still kudos for creating a character like Lisbeth Sallander. Wouldn't be suprised if she gets a life outside of Larsson's imagination. I enjoyed all 3 of them. Found them to be compulsively readable.
  7. Rogers looked great for Green Bay today. Go Packers!
  8. Nice! The Rawlings CD is very good. I wish Ms. Welch would record a new solo album.
  9. Be sure to get all of the Buika CDs, not just the one listed.
  10. Mine is up to 30 days. Wow. I ordered the Masters of Cinema dual-format (BD and DVD) version of the reconstructed METROPOLIS from them on January 2. It took less than a week for it to make its way from the UK to Texas. Granted, it was probably a considerably smaller package than some of the ones being discussed here, and I'm still waiting on a much larger order of MoC DVDs I ordered directly from Eureka Entertainment during the recent sale they had. It's one CD. I believe it's lost. They have no tracking system.
  11. Yes, I once had a shipment from BMG take forever. But in this case, it only took nine days. Remember, the USPS claims that it was delivered on the 20th. So was it misdelivered to someone who kept it, or did the mailman fail to do his job? Probably both. My Amazon UK order is now 24 days & counting.
  12. Hi Kalli, And welcome. I just read Indriðason's 'Jar City' over last weekend. Had me gripped. It's the third of his I've read and I'm just taken by the complete lack of glamour in the novels. It's also so grey. I don't think it ever stopped raining in that last one. The writer I didn't take to was Hakan Nesser. Found 'Borkman's Point' a real slog - and couldn't work out what country it was all happening in! I liked Jar City too. I'd like to see the DVD of it. I'm going to read Hypothermia next.
  13. I got my money back They said if it ever shows up I should just keep it (Amazon UK).
  14. Thomas Powers: The Killing Of Crazy Horse
  15. I don't believe the Falcons should look past Green Bay. OTOH, I hope they do.
  16. Yeah - delivered. But to where? BTW, my Amazon UK order mentioned earlier in this thread NEVER showed up.
  17. You're right. I was sorry when he killed off Easy. Always enjoyed Mouse too.
  18. I like some so called regional writers (Hillerman already mentioned) including Margaret Coel, C.J. Box, Craig Johnson. YMMV. Dennis Lehane deserves some consideration.
