  1. $34.95 at Jazz Loft.
  2. Gaslini: Vol. 7 & 8 (Soul Note) Billie Holiday: Complete Commodore & Decca Masters
  3. He may need a 4 million dollar Kobe Bryant diamond to resolve this.
  4. Very cool if you have a spare $500 - $1000 around.
  5. Steve Lehman Octet: Travail, Transformation & Flow Dave Douglas: A Single Sky
  6. I'm happy to have the 3 CD set.
  7. Yeah, Guy Ritchie sure seems like a terrible director, doesn't he? One of those who's all 'tude and talent. I'll not being seeing the new Holmes movie, but it's not because of Guy Ritchie. I love both Snatch (one of Brad Pitt's off plumb roles that really works) and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. There are more interesting characters in those movies than you can count. Both films, IMO, are right up there with The Big Lebowski. Speaking of The Dude, Jeff Bridges is going to be in the Coen Brothers 2011 repurposing of True Grit. That one sounds like fun. Up over and out. So why won't you be seeing it? Just curious.
  8. Colum McCann: Let The Great World Spin
  9. His Clean Feed CD Edge Of The Forest is really good.
  10. new Aram Shelton (Delmark) & Mike Reed (482) CDs
  11. Interesting. I'm sorry to hear that Kenny Clarke didn't think that the MJQ was "jazz" & that Milt Jackson "hated" John Lewis.
  12. My kids bought me one. I gave it to my wife. She loads (is that the right word?) everything. When I want to hear something she "finds" it for me. Pretty good deal.
  13. How are his novels? I have a copy of "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" but haven't read it yet. A friend also recommended "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" to me recently. They're both well worth your time. As I recall, Kavalier & Clay won the Pulitzer. Just started Barbara Kingsolver: Lacuna
  14. Had it on our DVR. Watched it last night, & agree it was great.

    Duane Tatro

    Excellent set.
  16. My thought too.
  17. That's the REAL cover. The other one with a photo of a guy with a trumpet is a jive-ass second-rate replacement. I actually agree with that.

The Sound I Saw is a great book. He also collaborated with Langston Hughes on The Sweet Flypaper Of Life.
