I believe the Monk book is essential. "Style" is less of an issue for me in biographies & non-fiction. Actually I'm more interested in the first book listed in the initial post than in the Gonzales.

I've heard that Ornette is not well. I meant Tacuma actually, as not showing any upcoming concerts or club dates on his website. Ornette sounded really good on November 18 of 2010, is all I can say, not weak or anything like that. Great to hear that!! I hope my source is wrong.
