  1. I wouldn't call it a "nice" win, I'd call it lucky, stolen, were the beneficiaries of a horrid performance by the closer. Exciting works, too. But it ain't nice. Nice is 8 innings of excellent pitching, a few clutch hits, 3-1, over and done. That's what the Cubs had, until Wood gave it to you on silver platter: 1st pitch, hit batsman second batter, double to left over Soriano's head, any other outfielder on the roster catches it for the first out. unintentional walk strikeout line drive that just clears Fukodome's mitt, then clears the bases. The last hit was the only well-hit ball. Not nice. Lucky. Occasionally you have to be "lucky" to be good.
  2. Nice win for the Brewers today. Trailing 3 -1 in the top of the ninth they scored 3 runs to win 4 -3. Gagne shut down the Cubs in the bottom of the ninth for his 8th save.
  3. Thanks for the description; I'll confidently cross this book off of the list. I'm interested in learning about Hank's "life and thoughts" - I'll listen to the music rather than read what someone thinks of it. I agree.
  4. Same for the Shepp / Roach. I saw that announced around 4 years ago. Dag! I hope you guys are wrong and that they'll see the light of day soon. You saw those announced on the HatArt web site 4 years ago or someplace else? I'm holding out hope that they're coming. Does anyone have a contact at HatArt they can email or call? Shepp / Roach is listed on the back of a Hatology CD I own that came out in 2004.
  5. My daughter felt it in Louisville. Other family in Milwaukee also slept through it.
  6. I ordered the ones I wanted from Amazon UK. Since they take off the VAT, the prices were about the same as from anyplace else + they ship quickly via air mail.
  7. Fielder finally hits a home run. Brewers defeat Cards 5-3 in 10 innings. Gagne - 4th save. Maybe he will be O.K..
  8. Same for the Shepp / Roach. I saw that announced around 4 years ago.
  9. David Hidalgo / Louie Perez
  10. Brewers recover to beat the Mets 2 in a row. Gagne looking better. Sheets looking more than that.
  11. Holly Hofmann / Mike Wofford Quartet
  12. They don't want to pay much when they buy stuff from you - at least that was my experience 7 -8 years ago.
  13. Brewers win again (3-2 in ten innings).
  14. Sheets pitches "rare" complete game shutout as Brewers sweep Giants.
  15. Richard Ford: The Lay Of The Land
  16. Brewers defeat Giants again today (5 -4). Brewers now 4 - 1.
  17. Taylor's Tenors is great. I'll have to get this one.
  18. No Hammond B-3.
  19. C'mon over. We'll have cake. Thanks for getting me through another year.
