Vikram Chandra: Sacred Games

This was a really, really excellent show. I expected a very decent show, but last night ended up being one of the best shows I've seen in recent memory. The atmosphere of the club was perfect, the crowd was VERY into it, and the band was absolutely SMOKIN' !!!!! The grooves were deep and the soloing was fantastic. Superb stuff. If anyone gets the chance to see Matt Wilson's Arts & Crafts on this tour, I'd highly recommend it, as they are playing at a very high level. They'll be at The Outpost Performance Space in Albuquerque in April. Looking forward to seeing them.

Saw Eddie Palmieri's Latin Jazz Orchestra. Brian Lynch (trpt) & Yosvany Terry (alto) were the horns. Hot show!!

I like Paste. Very little on jazz, but very good on what it covers. YMMV on the reviews.

Oh, come on. Some of those look pretty good. Especially if you only have the Wes & Cannonball on crappy old cassettes(like I do).

Saw Madeleine Peyroux tonight in Santa Fe. She did 3 Leonard Cohen songs so all was well with me. Actually the whole show was very nice (IMHO).

The reason I asked is that he's going to be in Albuquerque in May with a sextet. The 6th member of the group is listed as Val - turntables.
