  2. They often ship on orders from their website in advance of the "release date". Can't guarantee that, but I've received CDs a couple of weeks in advance.
  3. Milwaukee 18-9. Pretty damn good (so far).
  4. I agree with Sal. Does Tony repaying all of Hesch's money portend something "bad"?
  5. $2.81 today at (you should pardon the expression) Sam's Club. 30-40 cents less than elsewhere in town. Might be different tomorrow.
  6. Sounds good.
  7. Taylor Ho Bynum Sextet (Firehouse 12 CD)
  8. Lucky 7s: Farragut You'll like that too - really!!
  9. I like the stuff in the Tatum Group Masterpieces box set. Not sure re: individual availability.
  10. Very worthwhile. Laurie has lots more.
  11. Yes indeed.
  12. CD reissues of the first 3 Leonard Cohen albums. Mine went the way of all vinyl years ago.
  13. I was at that same run at The Jazz Workshop. I was an intern at the Boston City Hospital at the time. The "show" I was at had at least one other saxophone player. I think it was Carlos Ward. It was pretty intense. I loved it at the time. Don't know how it would hit me today.

    Coleman Hawkins: Rainbow Mist
  15. Matt Wilson's Arts & Crafts
  16. Ouch. I guess Chris didn't like her. BTW in my cursory search at AAJ, I found more that was +. In fact I couldn't find the Albertson quote. Disclaimer: As I said, my search was not exhaustive.
  17. I'm not interested in arguing with anyone. I'd love to see Ornette play live & not pay a lot. Not gonna' happen. With some associates we do some jazz "booking" here in the desert. We recently were offered the "opportunity" to present 2 famous jazz musicians in a concert of duets. The price was $40,000. Maybe it was negotiable, but we didn't even try. We booked a great quartet for $4K, sold our 100 seats, & everyone had a good time. Needless to say, I will not name names.
  18. Ornette (or anyone else) can ask for whatever $$$ they want. If they don't get hired, that's their problem. Maybe he doesn't need the money.
  19. That's called the "chew test". I'd go to the dentist.
  20. That's a great Baron Wolman photo. Rolling Stone photographer back in the day. Lives here in Santa Fe now. Went to a recent exhibit of his & the photos overall were quite good. BTW (IMHO) you need both of these CDs.
  21. Canela - Patrice Rushen, Justo Almario, Abe Laboriel, Alex Acuna
  22. I don't have any empathy for Imus (here comes the but). Sharpton = Tawana Brawley as well as many racist, anti-Semitic statements. Jackson = hymietown as was mentioned earlier. I personally can live without all 3 of them. When you spit up in the air you know where the spit may land.
  23. Light In The Attic Records is about to reissue the first 2 Betty Davis albums with bonus tracks. If they do as good a job as they did with their Karen Dalton reissue, these will be great. According to their description these are authorized & Betty will be receiving royalties. Apparently she is living in Pittsburgh & is broke. http://www.lightintheattic.net
