  1. Springtime in the Rockies (I hope). We've got robins, bluebirds, etc..
  2. I've been waiting for years for that Pepper Adams PJ. Is there any "extra" material??
  3. Me too. Powerful stuff. Off topic, but Hotel Rwanda was excellent too.
  4. That's right. You never know what you're going to get. I heard Moody in person recently & (to be charitable) he wasn't very good. When I saw him at the Detroit Jazz Festival two years ago, he sounded very good to me. It was a concert setting. Quartet of Moody, David Williams on bass, Carrington on drums & piano (actually can't remember who). Moody massacred Cherokee on flute, & played adequately on tenor, alto & a bit of soprano. Told jokes that were lame 30+ years ago & wasn't much better on vocals on Moody's Mood For Love & Bennie's (sic) From Heaven. Maybe it was the altitude. Other half of the concert was Ahmad Jamal (he's 75), with James Cammack & Idris Muhammad. They were "tight", although nothing new took place.

  6. Welcome Matt. (Bad pun, but sincere)
  7. Well, I'm now inspired to pull out The Meters (Josie 4010), reissued as Sundazed 6146. Thanks for the reminder.
  8. http://www.venusrecord.com I'm waiting for it to come in at Cadence too. I just looked at the Venus website & the track listing is in Japanese which I can't read.
  9. Help! Can't find the new Kenny Barron/Venus CD at Cadence. Did find the Harold Mabern there and wiould love to order both. Thanks, Marla The one problem at Cadence is that it sometimes takes a while for the new issues to come in. Send an e-mail to Slim at Cadence to let her know which ones you want, & she'll let you know when they arrive.
  10. I'm surprised to hear that. I bought No Problem from Cadence & it's still in their center section list. Years ago I used to buy the mini-LPs, but at $19 apiece (I'm a subscriber - $1/CD discount) I'm sticking with the jewel cases now. It's true that Cadence doesn't carry the mini-LPs.
  11. Oops - I just quoted myself. Well this does keep coming up.
  12. Lon is correct. But - I don't know what shipping to Europe would do to that best price situation. In the U.S. no one else is even close.
  13. retired M.D. (gastroenterologist).
  14. Venus - but I voted for Blue Note.
  15. I always have Mosaic ship to me using UPS. I had a bad experience with DHL (which Mosaic made good on).
  16. Already on backorder at CD Universe. Apparently not in stock yet at Dusty Groove.
  17. I have both the Holiday & Young Verves. Wouldn't be without them.
  18. I can't remember the first one I bought, but my customer number is 557.

    Bill Hardman

My take on Hardman is that while he was not the world's greatest trumpeter (whatever that means), he did have a very original sound & style that I could always identify immediately.
  20. Oy vey. Where's Clem when we "need" him??
  21. Everybody has an opinion. I guess that's good. Makes life interesting.
  22. I don't need the downloads either.
  23. Rare & expensive (around $50) on the internet. Hopefully will show up in a "new" issue someday.
  24. Not to derail the thread, but I just dug out my copy of New Tango 92 & gave it a listen. Good stuff. Notes by Mr. Lowe himself. Addendum: Needless to say I also have the CD Mental Strain At Dawn & highly recommend it.
  25. Screw it. It's back in stock at Dusty Groove so I ordered it. If I can live with the sound on the Brown / Roach, I guess I can tolerate this too.
