  1. Pulled this out & listened for the first time in a while. Thanks for bringing it up. Sounded good. Particularly liked Hersch in this context.
  2. Finally.
  3. Well here's where I got screwed up. Roland Kirk had a record with a "group" called the Jazz Corps with somebody whose last name was Peltier. Peagler is not exactly Peltier (who was not a sax player) but maybe close enough. Sorry for the confusion (mine).

I have it. Agree with your assessment. Saw them live. Good show.
  5. Get the Krivda CDs on CIMP & CJR.
  6. I don't think I know the piano players, but Peagler recorded in a group called the Jazz Corps (I think) & I believe also had something to do with Roland Kirk. This is all off the top of my head, so if incorrect I apologize.
  7. What is Paul Motian: I Have The Room Above Her?
  8. To, perhaps, confuse this further, I have the Twlevetrees book & a Taschen Claxton book called Jazz Seen. They are definitely not the same book. Now, is Jazz Life different from either of those?
  9. To answer my own question, I was around & saw The Doors live a number of times. They were great when I saw them. So was Jefferson Airplane.
  10. I wanted to stay out of this, but were any of you alive in the 60's??? Other than Chuck that is. Hopefully this won't get as ugly as the Gourse thread elsewhere.
  11. Great Jazz Trio: S'Wonderful (with Pattitucci & DeJohnette)
  12. I like her singing more than I thought I would. Going to see her live on Jan. 31.
  13. Well, Lou Mecca I suppose.
  14. Naah - get the Mulligan Concert Jazz Band Mosaic. You won't regret it.
  15. If you don't want to be an Emarcy "completist", then at least get At Basin Street.

    Nellie McKay

I have the 2 CD set. I like it.
  18. There is /?was a great Von Freeman quartet CD on Southport.
  19. I liked it more than my wife did. She thought it was "weird".
  20. Reggie White was a great football player & a homophobe. He also established homes for pregnant, unwed women, helped set up businesses in troubled urban areas & tried to bring people to G-d. His family also appeared to care deeply for him. Imperfect for sure, but not all bad.
  21. Bye Bye Blackbird Complete Blue Note The Out Of Towners
  22. C. Sharpe
  23. I've only got 3 of the 10, but I do have Face To Face.
  24. Art Pepper
  25. Oy vey. That is, of course, IMHO. Whew - what a thread this is.
