  1. This thread has taken a dissapointing (to say the least) turn since I looked at it a few days ago. Who is this guy(lp)??
  2. This sounds more like a FA than a FS. Doesn't FS imply a definite price? Just curious.
  3. I got the Candoli mentioned in one of the orders above & Oscar Pettiford: Complete Big Band Studio Recordings.
  4. Jane Ira Bloom may not be an innovator, but she's damn good.
  5. Don't be too surprised. The series is released by Universal in France. These are all indeed listed on the Verve site for Mar.15 release. No prices mentioned. And who is ROSEWELL Rudd??
  6. I like Patricia's recipe too. The chili powder, cayenne & cumin(probably) are essential.
  7. The Real McCoy - short, but very, very sweet.
  8. I'll remind you again that Cadence has the Venus CDs in jewel cases for $20 apiece, $19 if you're a subscriber. I got an e-mail from them yesterday & bought Mabern (35337), Higgins (35342), Super Trio - Kenny Barron (35343) & the new Charlap (35344). Shipping depends on how many you buy. As you'd expect, the more you buy the less the shipping per CD.
  9. That's new. It started at $35. Then I think it went to $24.95. Apparently the message has finally been received & the price for the CD only has been reduced to a reasonable level. Should have been that way from the start. They'll live & learn. In general I like the Artists Share concept.
  10. So do I. So do I!!
  11. Looking forward to this Percy France trio CD from Allen Home Cookin' & the Freddie Roach CD with Percy are also on the way to me from Dusty Groove. This thread is an example of what makes this board so great.
  12. Eighty-eights definitely brings out some excellent CDs. Some eventually make it to domestic U.S. issue, but I usually can't wait. Expensive, but worth it (IMHO). http://www.eighty-eights.com
  13. The Gordon is great. I have all of the Chambers elsewhere, so didn't buy it. Mainly cool stuff. I'm not interested in the Liebman / Beirach. Just me, I guess.
  14. If you like South (I do), you'll like Welcome To Life (Binney, Potter, Taborn, Rogers, Colley, Blade) on Mythology. http://www.mythologyrecords.com

    Manny Albam

You might as well get Vol. 1 also.
  16. Barry Altschul ? Eddie Daniels
  17. I liked Mystic River because of one major difference. Sean Penn can act. Obviously if you don't like the movie you don't like it (& I do agree about Sean Penn). But - Hillary Swank can't act????, Morgan Freeman can't act????
  18. Greg Cohen Joey Baron Jenny Scheinman Uri Caine ? Dave Douglas
  19. I like that Betty Wright CD & the Patty Waters too.

    Anthony Braxton

I have & like both, but that's just me.
  21. I got it too, Sal. Agree with your evaluation.
  22. Springtime in the Rockies (I hope). We've got robins, bluebirds, etc..
  23. I've been waiting for years for that Pepper Adams PJ. Is there any "extra" material??
  24. Me too. Powerful stuff. Off topic, but Hotel Rwanda was excellent too.
  25. That's right. You never know what you're going to get. I heard Moody in person recently & (to be charitable) he wasn't very good. When I saw him at the Detroit Jazz Festival two years ago, he sounded very good to me. It was a concert setting. Quartet of Moody, David Williams on bass, Carrington on drums & piano (actually can't remember who). Moody massacred Cherokee on flute, & played adequately on tenor, alto & a bit of soprano. Told jokes that were lame 30+ years ago & wasn't much better on vocals on Moody's Mood For Love & Bennie's (sic) From Heaven. Maybe it was the altitude. Other half of the concert was Ahmad Jamal (he's 75), with James Cammack & Idris Muhammad. They were "tight", although nothing new took place.
