  1. This turned out to be an excellent show.
  2. Good stuff. Mix it with Oregon chai & heat for a real treat. Get some biscotti for dunking too.
  3. So somebody buy the Watkins already. Great cover too.
  4. I got mine from amazon.uk Good service & good price (if they still have it).
  5. Played this twice today. I like it.
  6. Unfortunately this is not an area I have any expertise in (I'm a gastroenterologist). What I will say is that this evaluation should be completed ASAP.
  7. That's quite a haul for around $100. I say - "nice going".
  8. The number the above will sell to me - zero.
  9. Monday night I saw Frank Morgan with George Cables, Cecil McBee & Leroy Williams. They all seemed to be in good shape & good form.
  10. I like 'em too. I admit to not being much of a polarity reverser.
  11. We watch Boston Legal & The Wire, sometimes Letterman & an occasional sports event.
  12. FWIW the same offer is posted at AAJ with (so far) no replies.
  13. We have early voting, so I voted about a week ago. I got a ballot & a #2 pencil.
  14. Frank's going to be playing at The Outpost in Albuquerque next week in a group with George Cables, Cecil McBee & Leroy Williams. Looking forward to it.
  15. pre-ordered from Barnes & Noble, $26.60 & free shipping.
  16. Don't know if this really has anything to do with this thread, but Jim Hall is on a Greg Osby Blue Note with Andrew Hill on piano.
  17. If you like this, see if you can find The Hip: Hipsters, Jazz & The Beat Generation. Published 1986 by Faber & Faber. Written by Roy Carr, Brian Case & Fred Dellar. Very cool!
  18. That sounds about right. I received an e-mail from the publisher today saying the book would be released in "about 10 weeks".
  19. Is this actually issued yet? I e-mailed Berkeley Hills books, but they never replied. If it's out, where is the best online source to obtain a copy?
  20. I'm not hardbop, nor am I a hardbop apologist, but I don't think the Murray thread at that other place has been fairly characterized here. Some might want to read it & some of the comments more carefully. I seem to recall some harsh criticism of Murray in the past by a very esteemed member of this board. The Roney thread is another story, although I'm cautious about the inclusion of D. J. Logic. On the other hand (& way off topic) artists like Uri Caine have used "turntableists" effectively, so I'll have to listen more carefully. Disclaimer: I'm not a big hip hop fan.
  21. Which reminds me- how is our ol' buddy hardbop doing, anyway? B-) You just know he's lovin' this. hardbop is over at AAJ posting & fighting (as usual) with Chris. Chris should be all over this thread soon.
  22. I have Afrika Rising. Got it from Dusty Groove. Very impressive (IMHO). Sort of an AACM / Detroit groove.
  23. books, 2 & 3 dimensional art
  24. Rollins At The Village Vanguard Bill Evans At The Village Vanguard
