Sedona is in Arizona. Is there a Sedona in Colorado too??
  2. It's all that squeakin' & squawkin' except for Regeneration. I couldn't get into the Simone Guiducci CD I bought (Gramelot). Not sure why, but it just didn't work for me.
  3. I'd get the Giuffre first.
  4. Ordered the 2 CD set from the Atavistic website, and it's already here. Looking forward to listening.

Dmitry is right. AMG is wrong. So, what's new??
  6. I'm looking forward to this. I love Philly Joe on Everybody Digs Bill Evans.
  7. One of my favorite recent issues. Also try Sunshine Of My Soul with Izenzon & Elvin!!

    Tina Brooks

I'm a Tina "completist". Many hours of enjoyment.
  9. Great CD (IMHO). I like a lot of Charlap - e.g. his Venus CDs.
  10. I'm sure there are hundreds (at least) of sessions that could be suggested. Here are 2. Coleman Hawkins: The High & Mighty Hawk Tatum / Webster in the Group Sessions collection. Have fun.
  11. Brookmeyer Select. Mulligan Concert Jazz Band is next.
  12. Excellent. I wonder what the "cliffhanger" will be to carry over to the "last" season. On top of it we need to wait 2 weeks to find out.
  13. I believe he's doing some writing for the Village Voice since Giddins stopped.
  14. Whatever stance you're taking, this is all pretty subjective. Some of these posts sound like there's some way to quantify who's "better". I just don't think that's possible.
  15. I like Malaby on the Pavone led disc Orange on Playscape.
  16. Since I'm feeling contentious tonight, I essentially agree with Kevin & Dan. I think I said this a while back on some other thread that one of the active participants in this one had a major role in - opinions are like ********, everybody has one(sorry for the cliche). While (I guess) some opinions are more valid than others, in the end (after almost 50 years of listening) it still boils down to what makes your day as an individual listener. BTW, I like Heavy Hitters too. Disclaimer - I've never met Eric Alexander or heard him in person. It's just that several of his CDs give me listening pleasure. Very subjective, but so what.
  17. How about Saxophone Colossus or Giant Steps??
  18. Thanks for the reminders about this wonderful music. Just bought both of them.
  19. Me too. Wouldn't be without it. Classic.
  20. Since we seem to be going back & forth here, I'll add my 2 cents worth & say that I enjoy his playing very much.
  21. E. Dankworth is Wynton Marsalis - right?? Still an interesting lineup. Will be interested in how it goes.
  22. I cancelled the Roland Hanna after 2+ months. They were very nice about it & said they could still get it. I bought it elsewhere for $5 less & had it in 3 days. I'd probably still try them again if there was something I didn't think I could get anywhere else.
  23. I've got this one. Marc Johnson on bass, Paul Motian on drums. Very nice.
  24. They're playing in Albuquerque at The Outpost on May 24. Going to go.
