Those blisterpacks were wicked. The plastic was so heavy that unless you totally deconstructed the packaging before attempting to remove the CD, you risked lacerations from the shorp edges of the plastic OUCH.

I'm feelin kind of old too as I instantly recognized them as longboxes. I started my BN collection out in the late 80s as well with a ton of these - as cutouts. Still have 'em too.

Tell me about it. In our house we had some wicked device called "the Piddah" (spelled phonetically from the Polish word) It was a broom stick handle - cut about 1 foot in length. Nailed to the very end of the handle was a piece of leather belt about 18 inches long. The last 6-8 inches or so of the leather belt was frayed - so the "Piddah" was essentially a whip or flagellum. Nice huh? Needless to say, it hurt like hell.

Never had a lunch box. Why back in my day, the entire school was sent home for lunch. I attended a neighborhood Catholic grammar school which in its heydey probably had about 600 students. With the exception of a small lunch room that held about 20 children, we all went home for 1 hour. I was the 1960s by the way. My how times have changed.

The Quebec Hardee Mosaic which is now stored in one of several secret impenetrable locations is not going to be sacrificed for this acquisition. Even hinting at the source of my funds puts this entire operation, ...er purchase in jeopardy. Goad me no further.

I guess I'm a casual fan of Van Morrison. I only own 4 of his releases, including this one - Moondance, Poetic Champions Compose, How Long Has This Been Goin' On plus the new one. I've heard some other stuff by him and liked it but never bothered to pick anything up. Maybe then I've got a different perspective on this one, but I rather like it. Enough to go out and get a couple more Morrison releases I'd say. I've only listened to it twice and have now turned it over to my wife and probably won't see it again for a few weeks.

They are part of the limited release of 7500 sets. I have purchased several Mosaic sets through authorized retail outlets in the states - Ellington Reprise, Four Freshmen, Christy/Lee. They are always numbered.

No go on the autograph. The dressing room is so far from the auditorium that I would have felt like a stalker going after him. At the last show I saw, Osby and Moran hung around the lobby area. I was hoping for something like that. I agree about the bass player. I wish he was up a little more in the mix and the drummer a little lower. He was way up in the mix.

Wish I would have known you were going Tony - would have liked to have met you. My wife and I were both having trouble hearing the names over the applause, but I thought he said the drummer was Eric McPherson. He was terrific, wasn't he? Great show.

I don't know the jazz scene there. But they have a great art museum - the Carnegie. It adjoins their Museum of Natural History which is first rate as well. About an hour and 1/2 outside of the city are two Frank Lloyd Wright houses - the legendary Fallingwater- which is magnificent - and the lesser known Kentuck Knob.

Never heard of the Golden Eight release. I just checked Half.com and bagged a copy for $14.99. I'm not sure if that's a good price or not but what the heck. Looking forward to hearing it.

Just got this email this morning. I'll be hunting for a summer home in the South of France later this week.
