  1. Now I'm pissed. Or maybe just disappointed. In reviewing the set lists for recent shows, I've seen that most nights, they play 22 songs. The night I saw them - dues to restrictions at the venue, they played only 14 songs. What's up with those people in Rochester??? While I'm on the subject, I have to tell you, that even though this was an abbreviated set, it was no nostalgia band I heard that night. It was King Crimson - in all their glory - not Herman's Hermits playing some casino venue. This was no note for note replay of past performance of the hits by a bunch of stand-ins. As Fripp defined when he resurrected the band - it was reinvention and re-creation of those songs with a lineup that includes up to three drummers, 2 keyboardists and Mel Collins and saxes and flute. The performance just blew me away Yes - it would be great if they came out with new material. Hope they will. On my night, they did play 3 songs from the resurrected band era starting in 2014. To me, that's new stuff. I've read on the internet how Fripp hates the studio, but they are looking at using live events to roll out new pieces going forward and perhaps releasing them on an album. Either way, I'm entirely satisfied that what I heard was creative, re-imagined excellently performed music by a reconfigured King Crimson that kicks ass. Romualdo - the lineup now includes 8 members. Bill Rieflin had left in 2016 and was replaced by Jeremy Stacey. For this tour, Rieflin is back as a keyboard player, effects and percussion. Stacey plays drums as one of the three drummers and also keyboards - hence the reason I referred to up to 3 drummers and 2 keyboardists above.
  2. Saw King Crimson last night at the Rochester International Jazz Festival. My two sons purchased tickets for the three of us for my birthday back in March. At the time I had no idea they were touring again. Despite having listened to their music since the late 60s/early 70s, I had never seen them live. Last night's show: Stunning, powerful, surprising. The vocalist was terrific. Did not expect Mel Collins to be used as extensively as he was. Really loved his baritone sax work. Levin was just outstanding. Fripp was Fripp. I loved the multiple drums. Awesome night.
  3. I'm not holding my breath on any new set coming out, to be honest. I'm really just hoping that the Johnson and Mingus sets I have on order will be re-pressed. Anything after that is a bonus as far as I am concerned.
  4. I'm the wrong guy to ask, perhaps. I don't have a high end system and am pretty easy to please, being happy to have the music. That being said, I am aware of the sound quality discussions and as I listen, am wondering what all the fuss was about. The set sounds fine to me.
  5. I think it's hard to say what's going on right now. Obviously, time will tell. There seems to be a lot of sets on the Running Low/Last Chance list - currently 9 of the 25 sets listed on the site. Makes you wonder. We'll have to see what happens to other sets that were back ordered. Can't say I did not see this coming, though. Over the past few years I had been anticipating what we are seeing now and made regular purchases in the event that a final sale was announced. While that did not occur, the issues identified a few weeks ago prompted me to purchase everything left on my want list - a total of 8 sets. Three of the sets were back ordered, easing the sticker shock - but not the concern that even though they are repressing some back ordered sets, they may be doing small quantities - if the MJQ set has any bearing. But given what happened with the Lester set where they ran short on trays and such - who knows. Still looking forward to the Edwards set. I'd be happy if Mosaic went to 2-3 sets per year in vinyl and CD.
  6. Just got the Savoy set that I ordered a few weeks ago when it was backordered. Happy to have it and listening now. Really digging it so far.
  7. Organissimo Radio on Pandora
  8. I ordered the Lester/Basie on May 4th - same as you, I believe - along with 2 other in stock sets. Just got my shipment of all three today. I figured that it was the Lester that was the hold up as it went out of stock right after I placed my order.
  9. Got home today and the Mosaics I ordered on May 4th were there! The Armstrong (#257), Mulligan LPs and Lester. I figured once the Lester came back in stock I'd receive my order and I was right
  10. Looks like the Lester set is back in stock.
  11. I ordered the Lester along with the Louis Armstrong (#257) and Gerry Mulligan LP set on the 4th of May as well. I was charged several days later. Right around that time it appears they ran out of Lester sets. That's apparently due in June. Hoping for something soon. I love Mosaic Records, but their shipping and communication thereof is woefully inadequate for 2017. I ordered the Hines as soon as it hit running low a couple of months ago. Glad I did as the progression from in stock to running low to last chance to OOP seemed pretty quick. I finally got to listen t it a couple of weeks ago and I was really very happy with what I heard. Not what I expected and I mean that in a good way. Very nice set and a very nice surprise for me.

  13. Holy shit. This new saddens me greatly. I was a huge fan of the Allman Brothers Band and of Gregg Allman in particular. I had read that he was not going to do any concerts this year and just last night, I went to his website to see if that status had changed. I loved his vocals and his work away from the Allman Brothers as well. Really like what his organ playing added to the music. So much great music and songs are associated with him. I particularly like the "All My Friends" CD/video. I can remember back when he was hanging out with Cher, he had spent some time in the Buffalo NY area - making an appearance at an outdoor concert at the football stadium with the J Geils Band and later did a concert at a small club called the Tralf. Phenomenal show. He really impressed me with his organ playing that night. I really enjoyed the comeback the band made after Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks were both regulars with the band. I know I'm jumping all over the place but hey - Gregg Allman just died. To me, the Allman Brothers Band was one of the great American bands. I am glad to have seen them many times and am sad that I'll never be able to hear him live again RIP
  14. No problem. The website was not clear as to the information and I was actually surprised that it was part of the download.

  16. Hoping not to die too soon, but at age 60, you never know..... My will has a provision to let my sons pick my Mosaic sets in a "snake" format. I hope they will keep and enjoy them but realize they will more than likely be put up for sale. I don't care what they may be worth, I just know that I enjoyed the hell out of them! Hope they will too.
  17. Congrats. You got an excellent set and to have gotten the last one available is a particularly nice feeling for sure. Enjoy!
  18. If nothing else, the surge in sales resultant from the recent communication reinforces to me that it's all about one thing for Mosaic - the music. They could easily take whatever money there is from this surge and run. Instead, they are using it to reorder back ordered sets - and we've seen plenty of announcements relative to that - Savoy, JPJ, Mingus, Armstrong Decca, Bing, Benny Goodman, Mingus. I started a separate thread about the future of Mosaic, but if the mods want to roll it into this one, that is fine with me.
  19. Listening to the Hines set that I recently picked up from Mosaic. Disc 6 on right now, but I've been listening when time allow to the entire set starting Friday evening. I am impressed. Great set.
  20. Glad you got it and happy my post about it coming off the last chance on the Mosaic site list played a role in your acquisition. Feels like I've done a good deed!
  21. Proud to have been a member of the James P Johnson pressure group with my order already placed. Great Success! This might actually have been my first successful effort in that realm. As a proud owner of the Clifford Jordan Strata East set, all I can say is that this set really needs to be available and I urge everyone who is on the fence to place an order. I love this set.
  22. Thanks Hans for posting that. I guess a wasted my brain cells on ideas for nothing. Very happy to see the JPJ is coming back
  23. I think it is evident that their current business model is not sustainable for much longer. They are getting a pretty big bump in sales that I hope will allow them to repress JPJ set - which is on the chopping block.
  24. Based on what I've read here - seems like the pressure group has been very successful in delivering the message
