  1. Thanks for posting this information Hans. Nice to see you back even if you are only dropping in. The Mosaic situation sounds kind of dire. I hope the backordered Mingus and Johnson sets do in fact come back into stock. Sounds like it is by no means a sure thing.
  2. I'm pretty much all in on Mosaic sets at this point - having been a customer since the late 90's. My personal buying pattern is to cherry pick sets that are currently in release but once they hit the running low category - I'll grab them. Did the same with Clooney and Hines back in February and Hines is now on Last Chance.
  3. Just ordered the Shaw and Condon. Thanks for the heads up. Hoping the Mingus set actually comes back into print. Johnson too.
  4. To be honest, I pick up stuff now knowing full well that I don't have time to listen to it all. But I am a few years out from retirement - at which point I likely won't be able to afford the luxury of a Mosaic or any other set. So I buy them now, knowing I'll listen to them later.
  5. I usually wait for Last Chance, a sale on specific sets or discounted shipping to pick up sets. I did get the Bee Hive set for Christmas and I am really enjoying it. As far as new sets go, I just ordered the Armstrong LP set as it hit Last Chance. I'd like to get the Mingus as soon as it gets back in stock. Other than that - I'll have to see what the next sale brings. I think they usually run something around Father's Day in June. Would like to grab the Savoy as well.
  6. Pretty sure this is a new addition to the Last Chance List: Louis Armstrong & The All Stars Newport 1956 &1958 (4 LPs) They also have a few Resonance LP sets listed on their site. The Larry Young in Paris seemed like a good price Roland Kirk LP set is $75, on sale from $100 I grabbed the Armstrong set and from Resonance (via True Blue) - Larry Young in Paris
  7. Listening to it now for the first time. Excellent stuff. Congratulation Jim!
  8. I decided to use the free shipping offer to pick up the sets that I did not have that are on the running low list: Woody Herman Select Clooney Hines

    John Wetton, RIP

Loved his work - bass and voice - especially with King Crimson and also with UK. I knew he was ill for some time. Sorry to hear this news. RIP Loved his work - bass and voice - especially with King Crimson and also with UK. I knew he was ill for some time. Sorry to hear this news. RIP
  10. Very sad news indeed. I too was a huge ABB fan back in the 70s and drifted away as I became more interested in jazz. I started listening again in the early 2000s after Derek Trucks joined and Warren Haynes rejoined the band. I really liked the Trucks/Haynes duo on guitars. I particularly liked the combination of Jaimoe and Trucks and as Jeffcrom mentioned Mark Quinones. Great stuff. I tried to catch them before they broke up for the final time, but could not work it out. Rest in Peace
  11. WTF was he thinking? Hysterically bad. BTW that Hound Dog up above is just plain creepy.

    RIP Greg Lake

I was a big fan. Loved his work both with King Crimson and ELP. Can still remember his booming voice filling Buffalo's Memorial Auditorium back in the 70s, when ELP was at their best - one of the top concerts I ever attended. RIP
  13. Last time I was in Paris, I stumbled on a place called Caveau de la Huchette. It's in the basement of a centuries old building in the Latin Quarter - complete with stone and masonry walls and arches - with a main performance area and arched side room. It's primarily a swing place from what I recall, though the band I heard was a sax and trumpet quintet that played a lot of hard bop. There's a stage area and in front of it a dance area with perimeter seating. I sat in a side room with a great view of everything. There were a lot of people dancing. I thought it was a pretty cool place to have checked out. There's lots of pictures on the net.
  14. Sounds great! Count me in on the crowdfunding.
  15. Hi Jim

I got a message from Stefan that you're willing to let me grab the Kullhammar discs.  I appreciate the offer and am willing to accept it - just want to make sure that you are not having second thoughts

  16. This one seems to have flow under the upcoming releases radar - or at least I had not seen anything. I really enjoy Mosaic vinyl and am glad they are still putting things out in that format. Just picked up the Kirk set during the recent mini sale.
  17. I'm going to the Dead and Co show in Buffalo on the 11th. Taking my 2 sons for their birthday gift. They are now 19 and 21 - late October and early November. I saw the Dead around 2009 with Warren Haynes and Furthur a couple of years later with my older son. This will be my younger son's first Dead experience. Looking forward to it. I could not name a single song John Mayer sings on his own, but lots of people seem to be impressed that he's touring with this band. When I tell them they are doing primarily Dead stuff - they are not as impressed. Sounded good on the video above.
  18. That's a bummer. I - like many here - do long for the good old days when Mosaic had their own warehouse and shipped things themselves. I think it was someone named Cindy to whom you could speak directly and get super prompt and dependable service. Living in NY state should be a fast transaction and seeing how they screwed up - you would think it would be given top priority. Where upstate are you? I'm in the Buffalo area - which I know is really more over than up.....
  19. Sounds fair. I know what you mean about shredding the bubble wrap. They wrap it pretty tightly and use a lot of tape.
  20. Interested in the Jazz on Disques Vogue. Sending PM
