Yes, those America albums.Eddie Preston, who I am otherwise unfamiliar with. As for 'Moves', here's what to remember. Hearing it now, it's easy to say that it's just a transitional dry run for the 'Changes' albums, which is true. But I heard and digested it before the 'Changes' albums were recorded, and it was fairly stunning at that time, with the introduction of Adams and Pullen into the group. They were very fresh, striking new voices at that point.

I like "Moves" and the two albums with McPherson/Jones/Hiller quite a bit, but not on the level of Children or Changes, which are utter classics.

And accounting for inflation, that is still only $35 in 2021 dollars. What would ticket to equivalent event cost today (though there is no equivalent, giants walked the land then).

Are there any box bargains currently available?

One company's inventory trash is another person's cutout bin treasure. Nothing matches the old thrill of finding a Blue Note album I never knew existed sitting in a $1 cutout bin. -
We also are grateful that he saw what you brought to the table.

Fascinating group, sort of a cross between Procol Harum and Spooky Tooth, and in that same league talent-wise. Original lineup had organ and electric piano, but no guitar. Strong vocals, good writing. -
Here's some more from theseconddisc.com. Note that Michael Cuscuna did the liner notes. Also note the gaffe in the next to last sentence (in red). Friday, June 11: Charles Mingus, Mingus At Carnegie Hall (Deluxe Edition) (2CD) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada) The late Charles Mingus’ January 19, 1974 concert at Carnegie Hall featuring sidemen George Adams, Hamiet Bluiett, Don Pullen, and Dannie Richmond as well as guest artists Jon Faddis, Jon Handy, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, and Charles McPherson was originally released by Atlantic Records with just two lengthy encore songs – “C Jam Blues” and “Perdido” – each occupying one side of vinyl. Now, after 47 years, the entire show is being released by Run Out Groove on CD and LP, with 74 minutes of previously unreleased music from the late composer-leader-saxophonist. It’s all been mastered from the original tapes, and the package features new liner notes by historian Michael Cuscuna to place it all into context.

Thanks for the update! Confirms my suspicions, so I know now that if I were to buy this, it would only be for the first disc. Noticed that you listend to the second disc exactly one year after the first disc - was that by design? -
RIP, a giant on his instrument. 86 years old.

Blue Note Groove Things, imaginary box set

"OTB" by Out Of The Blue. That was my answering machine background for a while in the late 80's. -
Looks great, but $37 on amazon, more on ebay, and you need the blu-ray for t=it to play if in USA. https://www.imdb.com/video/vi1228128025?playlistId=tt8661880&ref_=tt_pr_ov_vi

BFT 206 1 – No idea, but I really like it! The styles seem more pasted together than merged, but works for me. Trumpeter has great tone. 2 – Very nice. I’ve always been a fan of vibes instead of piano in a rhythm section, it gives a whole different feel, and seems especially effective on a slower cut like this. And the bass player is really doing it for me on this. 3 – Pretty, but fades into the background for me. 4 – This sounds like something that should be sitting on my Blue Note shelves somewhere. Sure sounds like Grant Green to me. Love it. 5- “All The Things You Are”. Very strong version. Alto has some J-Mac tendencies, though I don’t think it’s him. And how often do you get a bebop harpsichord solo? Though that really stalls out the track for me. 6 – Sounds like an older trumpeter, and I don’t do well with that sort of muted tone. I like trumpeters to be brassy like on cut #1. 7 – Not for me. Send that string ensemble (surely synthesized) back home. Terje Rypdal on ECM? 8 – Too relaxed for me, needs some fire. Actively dislike the trombones interlude. 9 – Beautifully played. Superior example of this genre. Really strong first half to the BFT, very much look forward to the reveals on 1,2,4, thanks! I think this is actually the version which is cut B1 from this album with Tommy Turrentine? Same cut done on the RCA with Lee.

This conversation makes me feel very old. Bought a 2017 rather than 2018 Honda Accord to have a CD player in it, have four boomboxes as well as a component CD player (and a turntable) in the house, two of our four PC's (I even still have a desktop PC, though it will be my last one) have built in CD/DVD drives, and we have external CD/DVD drive for the other two. So I guess I'm redundant and obsolete at the same time, good trick.

Joe Walsh's revenge, much like Mardi Gras was John Fogerty"s revenge. -
+1 (and you can add in 1969, their debut album and Woodstock breakthrough), but Sony is not that enlightened. That being said, don't miss the Japanese deluxe edition of Lotus with the extra cuts and improved audio.

"Enough is Enough" with Donna Summer. Classic disco. One of the best Streisand albums.
