  2. Getting expensive with shipping to USA running another 20 euros for the bundle. I'll probably wait and see if other sellers such as DG carry these.
  3. Researching the Palm recordings further, I realize the two I'm most interested in, 'Us' and 'Mother Africa', have never made it to CD or download. 'Funky Funky Rib Crib' is around on CD, and the samples sound interesting enough. Not sure what to make of 'Exactment', where he seems to go it alone with some percussion in the background. Any thoughts on some of his later recordings, especially 'Worlds', which is also readily available on CD?
  4. That I would like to hear.
  5. The sound quality is quite disappointing. I'll report back on the bonus material. The album, of course, is essential, but I'll have to decide if I'm better off with this or my 1992 single CD, based on the additional material.
  6. And no Roberta Flack? Shame on you!

His sound was unmistakable. Loved his work with Ornette.
  8. Nice set, much more life than his later stuff. Great price.
  9. He could be pretty flighty and indulgent at times, not everything he did was "good", but he was almost always interesting.
  10. Thanks! Shipping to USA is another 20. euros, so I may try to get them from other vendors.
  11. Sigh. I'd probably would be in for CD or even download. I believe some of this is available on individual CD's.
  12. I've actually found a good number of buyers here for LP's the past three years (have never tried selling them anywhere else), much better than for CD's at this point (I used to be able to sell a lot of CD's here, many to guys who don't seem to have a presence in this community any more. I've turned to Hoffman as an additional jazz CD selling outlet, and do much better there selling jazz CD's), though I have had two people return LP's for condition concerns over the past three years. I find them much harder to grade than CD's, do the best I can, but grading LP's seems much more subjective. Like, what is a VG LP really? In 19 years here, I've only ever had one person return one CD for condition. As far as Discogs, is selling there any worse than selling on Ebay? I find Ebay tolerable for selling rock CD's, little market for soul and jazz CD's. But much of my ebay sales go to a very small group of frequent repeat buyers (really good guys I've developed nice friendships with). I have a large number of lower-priced rock CD's that I want to try to sell on Discogs some day, but finding time/energy is difficult, with extended family living with us.
  13. CD's yes (I've even repurchased a few rather than continuing the search, if I could get a used one cheap enough), but not LP's for me that I remember.
  14. The CD is almost twice as long as the album, with no alternate takes, so you can factor out the cuts with the vocals (which, I agree, are a turnoff) and still have a substantial album of cuts.
  15. I put in a second order for the Dewey Redman, the Dudu Pakwuna, and the Charles Tolliver (that one is an upgrade from my Black Lion CD). Some of the other titles available, I have chosen to just live with the Black Lion CD, as life is short and I may only ever listen to them once. I like the Kuhn a lot. Several bonus cuts (outtakes, not alternate takes). Most of the disc is early 70's electric piano grooves with Gary Peacock and Bruce Ditmas (including an early version of "Trance"). There are also some more varied cuts with Ron Carter and Billy Cobham, some of which have surprisingly effective string arrangements by Gary McFarland, though a couple have dull vocals by Kuhn. But there is a full album's worth of gems even factoring those out. Well worth it for fans of the era (like me).
  16. Wow is only word to describe this gem. Reissue of the year, hands down.
  17. This is my favorite Mayall album. I also especially like the albums with Peter Green.
  18. Yes, I have and like the Moondoc, and am certainly enjoying the Parker.
