  1. Maybe I sent you HERE ?
  2. Without going into details and particulars, I must say that I do not enjoy the recent RVG treatment of many classic BN titles as well as his recent engineering jobs. But that's just my opinion.
  3. Weren't you the one who suggested to me to put Johnny E. Bush in the cement boots and give Greg electro-shock therapy? Or was it vice versa? Anyway, I agree.
  4. Nothing beats Ikea for the inexpensive storage units and hi-fi racks. I wish I had just bought mine, instead of sweating over it...
  5. Bro, this must've been someone else. As you remember, I made my own storage units for both the LPs and the cds. You can too. There're about 1000-1200 records in this pile. Sorry for being a procrastinator about the email replies. I'm almost as bad as you.
  6. Whoa. You're talking about bus fares? $10? Used to be like $50 or so. ps-Palmieri rocked!
  7. This one is just a plain lie. What is that?
  8. I have this LP. It is indeed an excellent album!
  9. He actually looks like Chris Albertson...
  10. I'm assuming that was a tongue-in-cheek response, Dmitry. Of course.
  11. There's also SOUL EYES the compilation. Yesterday I picked up ONE MORE TIME, a 2002 recording with Jean-Jacques Avenel and Steve Lacy[on two cuts].
  12. He he. I wish. Lon, it looks much grainier than the smooth blue of the LP and TOCJ covers, but not as bad as that infamous John Patton cover, of course. I'll probably pick it up, since I traded the tocj recently.
  13. I thought as much. Thanks!
  14. At the risk of incurring the wrath of Ron...how is Dingo the movie? Worth looking for? I agree, the soundtrack album wasn't too bad. Nothing revolutionary, just some nice recurring themes.
  15. I saw this one at the record shop today, and it looks like a so-so xerox copy of the original[which I've also seen]. Much rougher than the tocj cover. It does have one extra cut that the tocj doesn't.
  16. JAMES NEWTON [where is he, btw?!] Tony Signa[undeservedly unknown] Steve Kujala James Spaulding
  17. Just called Smoke. They won't know what's happening till 3 or 4.
  18. Me too. I was thinking of Ahmad Jamal, but I intensely dislike the Iridium. There's also Orrin Evans Trio at the Smoke tonight. Perhaps I'll catch that after the Palmieri show.
  19. LINCOLN CENTER - OUT-OF-DOORS - Aug. 17th - "Latino Nueva York" Eddie Palmieri Y La Perfecta and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. 8:00 - 10:00 PM in the Lincoln Center plaza area in Damrosch Park bandshell. Free
  20. 1.MFSL cd doesn't have the 2 alternates, does it? 2.Will the Ultimate Blut Train multimedia material play on my Win XP? I don't even want to try...
  21. I guess I'll just have to believe Greg wrote hundreds of scientific articles in peer reviewed journals and there's no mention of any of them anywhere in the Google galaxy. It'll be tough after the Mnytime fiasco, but what the hell. Why do I care anyway?!
  22. I am but a speck of dust on the great vinyl record of life. If you tell me you wrote your hundreds of articles under a pen name, like Georges Sand, I'll believe you.
  23. I was still single...
  24. It came out on LIBERTY TOCJ-5376. [Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All Stars and Charlie Persip's Jazz Statesmen / Double Or Nothin'] (Liberty LRP-3045, LSP-7014) *Conte Candoli(tp-1) Lee Morgan(tp-2) Frank Rosolino(tb-3) Bob Cooper(ts-4) Benny Golson(ts-5) Wynton Kelly(p) Wilfred Middlebrooks (b-6) Red Mitchell(b-7) Charlie Persip(ds) #February 27, 1957 / Los Angels + Reggie of Chester -2, 4, 6 + Celedia -1, 3, 5, 6 + Blues After Dark -2, 4, 7 + Wildwood -1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Judging by the fact that it was recorded between Dizzy Atmosphere and Lee Morgan Vol.3, with almost the same rhythm section and Benny Golson, it's probably a pretty good session. The fact that it came out on TOCJ means that EMI does own it, and this Fresh Sounds cd is perhaps a boot. I thing you dug up a good cd for BN to reissue!
